? for the more recent military people...
What was/is your favorite MRE? Personally, I like the veggie burger. Tastes good, comes with bbq sauce, and lotsa goodies.

That is nasty.
I am a fan of the chili mac. The pork rib or chili are pretty good too.
I have only found one person that thought the omlet is good. I told him he needed to seek help.
I end up eating them for a few weeks every summer when I am spiked out when I work fires in the summer.0 -

C Rats were the real deal. [:D]
And...they came in real cans......[;)]
Yeah, and they had stale cigarettes included!
I still remember that 40 year old pound cake, yick!0 -
In my era I liked the hame slice, Tuna casserol, or the beef patty (I made a pretty good soup with the beef patty one adding the patty, soup base, and veggies in my canteen cup and heating it up)!
We fed the BBQ pork with rice to any of the Iraqie POW's we happened to take in![;)][:D]0 -

A bit of both![;)][:D][}:)]0 -
I was never in the Military but, I was a wildland firefighter and ate my share of MRE's. The Chicken and rice was my favorite. 0 -
I really liked the beef stew but if I couldn't get that I would go to the chicken and rice. 0 -
I learned a hard lesson about C-Rat scrambled eggs & ham or ham & lima beans. Never ever eat these in rainy weather.
Both give you seriously foul gas. VERY bad time to be stuck in a poncho. [xx(]0 -
Has anyone ever published an MRE cookbook?
We used to have a few pretty fair recipes we came up with using just what was in an MRE.
99% of the value soldiers get out of MREs come from the trading session with your buddies as everyone tries to upgrade to a better meal. When I got out of the Army I brought MREs to my relatives and friends who would just pick through them or devour them. I remember telling my dad and brother the idea is to sit around and BS and trade until you had the best meal you could make, maybe it is just me or maybe it is just a soldier thing but the MRE is more than just food-it is a source of comraderie and moral booster.0 -
Chicken with noodles, # 6. Worst was the dreaded four fingers of death. 0 -
So, why is this addressed to "recent military people"? The rest of us aren't good enough? [}:)] 0 -
The last time I had MREs was in basic during FTX. I'll be happy if I never see another one. I don't really care for being pluged up so badly that I don't crap for a week. 0 -
i hope i never have to eat another MRE, but is suppose my favorite was the jambalaya 0
