You might wanna go as light as .204. .223 is another possibility AND that is considerably cheaper to shoot that either a -06 or -250[}:)]0 -

For "just dogs and yotes" I would say the .22-250. If there is even a little chance you ever plan on using it for anything bigger(deer, etc.) I would go with the 25-06. It is for the reason of versatility that I am in the market for an 06' myself.

There is quite a gap in the 2 cartridges you gave for the choice.
If you need something that will span the gap look at the Remington 6mm or the Winchester 243.0 -

Got them both, and there is no way I would ever use a 22-250 on a hog. Pigglet mybe but not a full grown hog. 0 -
