Digital Camera question
When you erase pictures,what's the difference between erase all or format card? Does it hurt to format it all the time?If it doesn't hurt why do they give you a choice? Thanks

I was thinking about trading up on a digital camera. I have one now that is about three years old, 3 megapixels, but I want a camera that will take movies as well as still photos. Any recommendations? Does anyone make a movie camera that will take still shots also?

Looking for some reccomendations on a high quality, yet affordable digital camera. We have a decent lower-end Kodak that has served us well, but with both of us getting the opportunity to go on a possible "once in a lifetime trip" we would like to upgrade and get something that takes a little higher quality pictures. Not quite sure what we want to spend yet, so all reccomendations are welcome. Thanks,

Since there are more experts on more subjects on this board then anywhere else on Earth, I have a question. Santa brought me a digital camera. It's a FujiFilm A210, 3.2 pixel, 3X zoom. I am concerned about a little statement on the box in fine writing that says, "Made especially for Window XP".....I have Windows 98. Do you think that will be a problem and do you think the camera will work with Windows 98? No where else in the literature does it say anything about working only on Windows XP. I know you guys are very knowledgable on most things and I trust your judgement. What do you think?

I need some SLR experts' opinions here. Quick background, I'm going to take pictures for a couple friends' wedding this summer. They have offered to pay me by putting up some money for a camera. I take pictures regularly at football, volleyball, and basketball games. I also take quite a bit of nature pictures and such.
What would be a good choice for between $600-$800? I've looked on eBay for some and I've seen a lot for pretty cheap. I've seen a bunch of Canon Rebel XT 350D. Also, I've seen a lot of Nikon's D40.
What, in your opinion, would be the best value less than $900 for the camera and two lenses. I'd like to get one lens about 18-70 and another one 55-300. Thanks!0 -
Can anybody recomend a good digital camera for less than $250? I had that Sony Cybershot in mind, but don't know if there is something better out there.

I am thinking about giving Travis a decent, but relatively inexpensive digital camera for Christmas. I figure if he goes overseas, he will find things to photograph.
This one looks like a decent value, and is tough and water resistant. I am not wild about the digital zoom, but you can't have everything, I reckon.
Please take a look and give your opinion, or tell me if you know of a better choice for $200 or less.

My Panasonic Video Recorder will take stills and store them on a card.
There are a ton of still cameras that take 30sec video clips.0 -

I bought a kodak 8meg for $200 6 months ago, I takes sd cards and AA rechargeables. I like the sd cards because they work with my mp3,game cam,computer etc.. I like AA because they work with most of my other portable electronics, it is good to standardize. T he sony memory sticks only work with sony.

Most major manufacturers have video cams that will, also, take stills. Check out Sony----just sold a Sony TRV840 handy cam that took great stills and excellent closeups. The video cam recorded on digital tape and the stills recorded on a removable memory stick. Sony makes excellent cameras. 0 -
I've had my SONY digital video camera for about 10 months now. Great stills and awesome video. 60 gig hard drive. I still bought an OLYMPUS SP-510 UZ for most of my stills though. 0 -
Got an HP M537 for $130 at Best Buy. The 2G card will take 2 hours of full-motion video, or 9000 plus single images. It also has image stabilization and 3 shot burst - like a motor drive. AA batteries and fits in your pocket. It's a 6MP box.
I carry it far more than either of my Sony digitals.

Love it! Easy to use right out of the box. Amazing pictures. I've got a 70-300 and a 18-70 lens. Great for kids ball games and indoor parties, etc. I'm just learning to use Photobucket

If you want a really nice digital camera in the one thousand dollar range, get a Canon Rebel xti or a Canon 30D. I have seen many spectacular shots from the 30D.
If you want something less expensive, that still takes movies, real nice pictures and you can use attachments lenses with, try a Canon S3 IS (Image Stability). I have one of these and it's a great camera with 12x zoom, 6 megapixels and a flip out screen. More features than a point and shoot, but can be used as one if you need to. Good sized lense compared to the little ones (more light catching ability for better pics). It is kind of chunky for carrying around though. I got it on ebay with a 2 GB card for 300.00 and I have about 500 in it with lenses and filters I bought.
If you want a regular point and shoot that's pretty simple, been out a while, very affordable (200-250 on ebay), check out Canon's A640s. They also have a flip out screen and they are SWEET! Great pics, awesome video quality and sound, and it's smaller. Better for vacations. Also 10 megapixel so you can print just about any size pics you want, but way overkill for anything less than 8x10s.
Honestly, I was ready to sell my S3 to get an A640 because I found out how much I like them but I couldn't give up the control the S3 gives me. So we're selling my wife's and getting her the A640. [:D]0
