This has gotten me thinking about a boss I used to have. I work on a military base and we have "war exercises" all the time. A new employee came to work for his first day and brought his lunch in and set it on the microwave, then walked out to go clock in. Time clocks were in another building. My boss saw him do this and promptly got up took the cooler containing this lads lunch and set it outside about 50 yards away from the building. He said he did this because he wasn't sure if this was an excersise and the cooler was a planted bomb. I don't know about you guys but my first rule of thumb when dealing with potential bombs is NOT TO MOVE IT! Get everyone away from it and call someone. My boss got reprimanded for his actions.
When I was a kid I lived on a military base. A friend of mine had soccer practice after school one day so he left his gym bag by a tree on the school grounds.(School was on base as well). When he went to go get his stuff after practice it was gone. The police had seen the bag with no one around it and had brought the bomb squad in and took the bag and blew it up "safely". He got the charred remains of his school cloths and shoes back when they found his ID card in the exploded remains...we kidded him about that for years.0 -
I know they are from 'ATHF' and the little pink guy is 'lur' or something like that. Does anyone here know the name of that green guy they were trying to imitate?
Yes; overreaction!0 -
Whole thing cracks me up and saddens me all at the same time.Crown Royal anyone? 0 -
Well, I don't know about you guys but I certainly feel safer today as a result of these fine actions to protect us all. [;)] 0 -
stupid on both ends. But in todays world you must watch every move you make 0 -
I think its sad
I can't believe the city spend $750,000 on this.....0 -

Overreaction is a vast understatement.0 -
somebody watched Die Hard With a Vengeance once too often 0 -
Typical over reaction. If you have a bomb squad you MUST justify it's existance now and then. Now they want someone else to pay for their training day!!
Sort of like here in Coffeeville MS last year. Cops had to serve a warrant on a guy and there was a rumor that he made bombs out of flashlights. Well downtown got ropped off for hours while they got a bomb squad in from somewhere (Jackson?), searched house and blew up all flashlights. Never did find a bomb tho! Tom0 -

i live very near the city. i work in the city, in the public safety sector. i felt no fear. 0 -
I think that Turner broadcasting should've notified law enforcement what was happening and things wouldn't have gotten out of hand.
They didn't, and I predict that they will have to pay the cost of "Boston's most expensive bomb drill."0 -
I think it proves the terrorists are succeeding -- now they don't even have to do anything to shut down a major US city. An ad gimmick does it for them. And our civil liberties and constitutional rights will be further dismantled by this "threat". And the terrorists laugh at what little it takes to terrorize us.
I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out someone affiliated with CNN or Fox or the like made the first call suggesting they could be bombs. Makes for good ratings, increases web page hits.0 -

Darkstar11 you are so right.
Somewhere, up in his cave, Osama bin Laden is laughing, as the Americans look like a bunch of stupid cowards.0 -
Send those two morons and Ted Turner (along with Hanoi Jane) to IRA>I to advertise whatever they want [}:)].
The two morons can even post whatever hippie haircut question they may have ... what a loser [V].0 -
...Over reaction? What, because the cops weren't familiar with some stoner cartoon...and DID what they are sussposed to do? In retrospect sure is easy to second guess.
I guess if the stupid things had been exsplosives, and detonated; the LEO's would have been hammered for "not reacting".
I think these two fools would have been far better served to have been somewhat contrite vs the the "show" they put on, especially the nasty looking dude, moron...[;)]

So now the thugs will place flashing lights on their bombs so everyone can see them and know where they are at. Yah right. How stupid can it get? 0 -
For the first time, I agree with a majority on GB! An incredible over-reaction. And that they Charged these guys with a crime? An even further waste of time and money.
You know, the problem with toys is you want to use them. Boston has a bomb squad, we have homeland security, and boy oh boy, we got to break 'em out!!0 -

The 750k it cost the city, which Tuner will end up having to pay, is nothing compared to the value of the advertising he got off this stunt.0 -
It worries the crap out of me.
Shows how easy it can be to shut this country DOWN.0 -
Too bad there's no frontier anymore to kill off all the stupid people.
Big time overreaction.0 -
I think it will give Bush an excellent chance to throw out a last minute presidential pardon.
over reaction? yeah. just a little.

It truly amazes me that the South lost the War of Northern Aggresion. Those poor Yankees are afraid of their own shadows. Why would anyone with any sense think a battery & "bunch of lights" was a bomb? Please set us free...let the Confedercy go!
Its your boy in the south that is leading the country and has the country on high alert. Your post is brainless0 -
