Revenge on a Roofing Co.!!!!!!!
2 years ago I had to have a new roof put on our house, the Co. I got to put it on did a bad job, it leaked and ruined the ceiling. I had to file a complaint with the lic. board, any way it took a year to get them to fix it, So far I have cause them to lose 4 roofing jobs here in my small town of 1200 people and I am still talking.[:D][:D][:D]

Why not post their name here, or at least email the name to me ??

A mistake would have been if the company came out and corrected the problem on his first call, and paid to have the ceiling fixed,..........that is a "mistake".
What happened to him, is NOT! It is a bad contractor trying to get out of his responsibility.[;)]0 -

Dude! He was unhappy with the job! It doesn't matter the reasons, he is now an "ambassador of ill will" for this outfit. Right, wrong or indifferent, this is why "the customer is always right" is so important.0 -
About seven years ago we needed the roof over the bathroom replaced and my wife picked a roofer out of the YP. He came out, said he would do the job including the carpentry that was needed for $600. He said he would need $300 up front to go and get the materials needed. She wrote him a check. I found this out an hour later and called the bank to stop payment. He had already driven the 25 miles and cashed the check. Never showed up, always voice mail when I phoned him. He answered the phone once, said if I was suspicious, then "your lawyer should contact my lawyer." I went in to the court house to sue him in small claims. A couple deputies there, that I knew, said I was going off in the air because this guy moved around so much they could never get a summons served on him.
So I drove in to the Capitol, about 25 miles, and went to the Consumer Protection Department of the State Attorney General and told them I wanted to file a complaint for fraud and that I didn't care if they treated it as a civil or criminal complaint. He stalled and stalled with them but exactly six weeks later I received a check from their office for $300. Looking back now, it would have been worth the $300 to have locked him up for two years. Probably never happen tho.0 -

these people are supposed to be professionals at the trade they do . if you pay top dollar you expect premium work

Like you said, slipgate, the customer is always right.
Companies that fail to understand this go broke.
In the event of a roofer who does such shoddy work that it ruins the sheetrock, and then it takes them a year to come out and repair it, it goes double that they deserve to go broke.0 -
Pretty much exact same thing happened to me last year. A friend of mine is a contractor and recommended this outfit to do a "torch down" roofing job. I asked a lot of questions about technique(seemed OK), materials(tarpaper, pookie, roll roofing), warranty(5years), and price($2850), then asked if it would drain. The guy told me it'll never leak. I asked again if the water would pond on my flat roof, and he told me that it'll never leak. We scheduled the job for mid May. July 21 was when work started, and it was "done" on the 23rd.
It rained in November, and my new $1800 furnace was ruined from water pouring into the exhaust stack past the crappy workmanship of the roofer. I left about 45 messages on his machine ranging from the,"Why dontcha come over for a beer and we'll discuss what needs to be fixed" to "I'm coming to your house to set fire to your house you worthless !@#$%^&$!@#$%!".
I fixed the leak because this clown wasn't going to call me back or perform under his warranty. My buddy got me a new furnace for free since he felt so bad about referring this icehole.
I have sued this joker for breach of contract, non-performance, willful and malicious damage (there were a handful of nails and a wad of tarpaper stuffed into the exhaust stack of my furnace), and asked to have his license taken away.
His response was to move to another jurisdiction.

First clue is the term,"torch down"; that means that after the old roof is removed, (without sinking any existing nails)30# paper is laid, and roll roofing is put down with pookie at seams, which are then hit with a propane torch that supposedly seals the surface.

The only reason I went for it was that I had estimated $2400 to do it myself, and then got too busy to actually do it myself. No decking was rehabbed or replaced, nailheads continue to poke through the flimsy layer of roll roofing, and every time it rains, I have to start the siphon pump to drain the water or it leaks in one of hundreds of places.
When this suit is over, I expect to have a REAL roofer replace the abortion on my roof with code-compliant materials, supervised by myself and a City inspector.
As an added bonus, I placed a realtor sign in my yard crediting the "roofer" with doing a shoddy job and a worthless warranty.
His lawyer said that would land me in court for defamation. HAH!0
