The Arkansas Supreme Court has halted all executions over questions regarding who has the authority to regulate them. The legislature gave authority to the prison bureau but 10 inmates, all of whom brutally murdered people but now scream for compassion and mercy for themselves, sued saying the law only allows the legislature to oversee executions.

I don't see the big deal, myself. Who gives a flip which bureaucrat signs the order?

It's been 7 years since an execution took place in Arkansas because inmates have kept the matter tied up with ridiculous lawsuits. Too bad their victims weren't afforded the same opportunity to delay and postpone their deaths.

And judges wonder why they are hated by so many people...

An UNARMED, black, UNARMED burglary suspect shot by a rookie cop in Arlington Texas. Dead UNARMED (media wants to make sure we know he was unarmed) man's uncle says he can't be no burglar, don't make no sense t'all (paraphrasing) as he was on the college football team.

I don't know about Texas but here in Arkansas university athletes get arrested all the time. A couple weeks ago three were busted for counterfeiting. I've seen U of A players arrested for armed robbery, theft, all manner of crimes. You can take the kid out of the ghetto, but you can't...

I don't know much about this incident but a cursory reading of the story doesn't look for the cop. He had back-up on the scene, the 19 year old was unarmed, and none of the other officers fired, only the rookie.

BTW- Cop is 49 and a recent academy grad. I thought there were age limits for cops?

This makes me VERY angry. Please listen to the 2 1/2 minute audio (transcribed below).

If the people don't wanna listen to your liberal trash message, WTH are you going to move forward with legislation FORCING us to listen to this diatribe?

Again, not that I'm sorry for all of your liberal radio stations failing miserably, but WTH are you gonna do, make me listen?

Sen. Stabenow wants hearings on radio 'accountability'; talks fairness doctrine

This morning, radio host Bill Press brought up the recent closing of liberal station Obama 1260 when speaking with Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, and talked about whether there needs to be a balance to right-wing talk on the radio dial.

BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean, look: They have a right to say that. They've got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it's absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it's called the Fairness Standard, whether it's called something else - I absolutely think it's time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.

BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that's gonna happen. Yep.

Although Obama has been publicly opposed to reinstating the fairness doctrine, conservative radio has talked nonstop about the fear of it returning (or perhaps something like it with another name) while there's a Democrat in the White House and a Democratic majority in Congress.

UPDATE: A commenter points out that Stabenow is married to Tom Athans, a liberal talk radio executive.

Sonofab*tch. This is getting really old.

What ever happened to when the poor miserable SOB shut himself in a garage and started the car? Why do other people have to die?

Who cares if you're going to commit suicide anyway? For the next few weeks, any gun crimes that happen normally and don't usually get national coverage, will be under a microscope on the major news networks. They need to make it look like we're in crisis.

Amazing how news from Iraq has taken a back seat altogether.
