their all the same, even the ones who are only 3 hours holding the title!
wife wanted to be a cpa since she was a kid. never had the $ for school, but great with numbers and give her a stack to compile/balance she is happy as a pig in slop!
SOOoo...she has as usual been supportive of the gunsmithing, wants me to pursue it, but i hate paperwork...specially doing taxes etc.
you see where this is going dont ya?
told her i would see about getting enough buisiness to warrent getting a license, which means then buying our own place WITH a commercial varience AND s aeperate building for the shop...IF she would swear to do ALL the paperwork except for the bound book so i dont have to deal with it...of course she jumped on it
first thing is my daughters, hs girlfriends new husband with the H&R
    (http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=262538)
since it is durn near family, i locate the parts and write out an estimate for the kid, cutting him some slack
before i can even call him to see if he wants to do it, she finds the slip and has a fit that im not chargeing enough!
"no wonder you arent makeing any money on this!"
doesnt even give me a chance to do enough work to figure out times and start building a baseline and she is haveing fits about the profit margin already!

Brownells has a shop price survey you can research, at least it will give you a idea what the going rate is.

thanks Don, i think i had seen that, but right now i am not doing production as fast as seasoned pros and have to comp for that as well as keep competative priceing to gather interest in my work since i am un-known...makes it a bit more tricky
eventually what i want to do is keep prices to the lower end of the average, but with the better "hand crafted" quality that is quickly disappearing...customer gets a FAIR price for BETTER THAN AVERAGE work, but without me working for min wage
this will take time to figure out, i enjoy the work, but not to spend the time iin the shop for peanuts when i coulda been backpacking or shooting or something
