Silicone spray as a gun lubricant?

Does anybody here use silicone spray as a gun lubricant? I use it on a lot of stuff, but have never had the nads to fill up a Smith & Wesson or Remington with it. I've thought about it, but never done it. What do you think?

    They also have creams to slow things down for you, and there are some techniques your wife could learn, or so I have been told.

    I stopped using Gun Oil about 5 years ago, It all turned to a varnish type stuff and was hard to scrub out, now I use hoppies for lube and a silicone gun cloth to wipe down the out side with. Am a lot happier.

    Just because it isn't a specially made product doesn't mean it won't work. Ed's Red is a great example, and a GREAT bore cleaner and general oil for firearms. I make my own bullet lube from beeswax, lanolin, ivory soap, and castor oil. It works great too.

    WD 40? If I've been hunting in the rain, absolutely. To wipe off fingerprints? Eh, ok, could do better. For a long term storage coating or lube? Better than nothing but could do a lot better.

    What it IS good for I find, is dilluting oil; I've had pretty good luck with 2 parts WD40 to 1 part SAE 30 non detergent oil- thin enough to spray, the WD40 is just acting as a carrying agent. I use that on tools and such, and occasionally on guns.

    WD-40 should never be used on anything gun related! It's made up of "Stoddard Solvent" (60-70%) which is.....
    "White spirit, also known as Stoddard solvent, is a paraffin-derived clear, transparent liquid which is a common organic solvent used in painting and decorating. Drycleaners began using it in 1928 and it was the predominant drycleaning solvent in the United States from the late 1920s until the late 1950s."It is a mixture of saturated aliphatic and alicyclic C7 to C12 hydrocarbons with a maximum content of 25% of C7 to C12 alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons.

    Petroleum Base Oil....10-30%
    Carbon Dioxide 1-5% (in the aerosol)
