Not exactly like I thought it might go down. Stopping the Cub run, making the Gross make the big play (whitch he couldn't), Mathis & Freeney contributed but not to the extent I thought.
The D was there once again. They must have been laying back during the regular season. There is some thought that the opening kickoff TD by the Cubs was a way to lure them into a false sence of security!

The once-"lowly" Colts rose to the occasion, quieted the doomsayers and manhandled the Bears. Manning all but placed the official seal of approval on what will surely be a Hall of Fame career. Congrats to the Colts and Indiana!0 -

That defense got much better when the Colts got Bob Sanders back from injury. He changes the whole tone of how they play the run. He's a hitter and he's steady, and they don't show either characteristic when he's not in there.0 -

Being a Colts fan, it's sad but I almost felt a better sense of accomplishment after that Patriots game. That was the one that did it for me. The game didn't play out like I thought it would. I think a lot of other NFC teams with the big name QBs could have played the Colts a lot tougher. Grossman had some bad mistakes but the defense couldn't get off the field either.
Living in northern IL also makes it somewhat of a bittersweet victory. But, a wins a win. The naysayers can finally shut up.
What's also kind of neat is I believe the Colts new stadium opens this next coming season. So not only will they probably host the first televised game of the season in their new stadium, but they'll also be unraveling a superbowl banner from the rafters. What a way to kick off a new stadium.0 -
I said it on this forum yesterday, and I have been saying it for two months, that sending Rex Grossman to win the Super Bowl, was sending out a boy to do a man's job.
Lovie Smith is a good coach, but he has been looking all season at the fact that Grossman is not up to par. Smith has to go down as a Super Bowl dumbass for continuing to play this guy.
Congratulations Peyton Manning, he is a champion!

The Colts played a great game.
The Bears play calling SUCKED! They abandoned the run and didn't try the tight end until the end of the game.
The defense over pursued and missed countless tackles.
None of the coaches will be considered for the Dallas job as previously speculated.
The Bears had two weeks to prepare for the Colts and they did not show up prepared. Terrible communication issues.

It was a close game and both teams did a good job! I favored the Colts as underdogs and since Indiana had never won a Superbowl. Plus I was born in Indiana and have family there.[:D][:D]
I think the outcome is based on luck when teams get to the playoffs. They all have to be good teams to get that far, in my opinion.[:0][:0]0 -

If Manning does not suffer major injury, or just get tired of the naysayers, he will own virtually every record that matters by the time he retires. I'm a Packer fan, but the records Farve (and Marino) holds are only being kept warm for Manning to have time to catch up.
I'm more impressed with Farve getting it done outside in Green Bay instead of the warmth of Miami or the Dome in Indy, but Payton will hold the records.0 -
I was surprised that the Colts shut them down so easily. The Bears did not look good at all. Great teams make lesser teams look bad sometimes. Maybe the Colts are a great team. 0 -

Name another QB who has thrown for over 4000 passing yards for 6 consecutive seasons, 7 times total in his career. Or, one who has thrown 49 td passes in a season (holding the all time single season record). How about a single season qb rating of 121.1, blowing away the previous record of 112.8 held by Steve Young.

Still laughing? I hate to say it but this guy is awesome. I give all these other HOF quarterbacks all the credit in the world.
