The crux of the Second Amendment....

HAS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH HUNTING!!

It's about life and private property and the right of an indivual to bear arms sufficient to protect it from loss by others, including government.

    right you are! in fact, the words "hunting" or "food" do not appear anywhere in the Constitution or the Amendments.

    A sizable percentage of the NRA will tell you otherwise.

    If it were up to those individuals, you could only own a deer rifle and a duck gun. After all, its not sporting to hunt tasty critters with anything other than high-dollar, ornately carved bolt guns or shotguns.

    You got precisely "ONE" reply holding true to your original purpose.

    Did you expect people on a gun board to actually flock to agree with you ?
    By the way...being in no way politically correct...I might more correctly define the Second as protection against Tyranny..both foreign and domestic.
    That, friend, is the rub...most people cannot comprehend their own government going bad..and the fact that the Founders EXPECTED us..through force of arms...to ensure that government would NEVER get out of control is...well...really scary to them.
