Taurus Had ended making the Raging Bull 500's. Wonder why?

There is science and technology involved in investment casting of gun parts that Ruger has gotten right after over 50 years of experience.
Designing using the appropriate allowable stress in sizing of parts
is part and parcel of their current success.
In the beginning they made soft, as-cast frames for their Blackhawks.
I recall 357s that shot loose after a lot of shooting.0 -

I am no Taurus fan,.....but I do have a Ruger GP-100, as well as an SP-101.
They both have thousands of rounds through them, and never an issue encountered.
I also own a S&W 686,....one of the first ones out.
No problems either.
How do I determine which is better?[:0]0 -

I did just talk to a friend of mine at taurus plant in fl. And no more will be made. tried to put it on this auction but they dont take discover card. WTH. its on another online one. of course this is the best site. not my fault the other one takes all cards. anyway i included a $350.00 scope and shoulder holster. these are bout gone to the collectors. if folks like me wont let one loose. lol 0 -

just curious Doug--did you have a ruger revolver fail on you? reason I ask is I have shot thousands of rounds through 8 different ruger revolvers both single and double action in .357, .41 and .44 & .45LC- some guns older than me(I'm 39) and never had a single issue. I've also never known any of them to not be able to stand up to loads that would not be recommended in my Model 29 S&W. I have seen more than my share of S&W .38's with their top straps blown right off and cylinders blown out at the local gun range in their glass cases where they rent handguns. In fact at Fresno PD they destroy guns now that are confiscated and not claimed or if they are no longer needed for cases--S&W, Colt, Taurus revolvers are easy to ruin--they put the gun in a vise, open the cylinder and stick a big breaker bar though it and lift up--snaps the top strap--with the rugers they have to take a torch to them as the breaker bar just twists the frame. I dunno maybe I'm missing something--just wondering was all.[:D]0 -

For some reason people think just because one brand of gun costs more. Then it must be of better quality. I've owned Rugers and colts and smiths. Only difference I could find was the price. 0 -
Rugers are stronger frames than either Smiff or Taurus, but don't let me change your mind with anecdotal information; check out the comparisons between INVESTMENT castings and forged castings at the Metallurgical Engineering site at nMTech.

A smiffs not a smiff unless its an older one. Do your homework. A smiff is as good as its maker. haha. smiff piff. Anytime someone wants to put there smiff to the test. Let use each others firearm for a target. And i'll bring my TAURUS 500. and $$$$$$$$$$. 0 -

Never knew Taurus to make a ten inch barrel. what models ya got?0 -
Must not be too familiar with CDNN or the Taurus line- they made several versions; the .30M1, Raging Hornet in 22Hornet, 17HMR, 22WMRF, 357Mag, and .44Mag with 10 inch barrels, and they also sold some 12" iterations of the same guns.
I have a 8" Model 608(357Mag) that I traded a 17HMR with a 10" barrel for; I couldn't see anyone short of Ben Grimm being able to point and shoot the 608 10" version=it weighs a ton and points like the mast on a sailboat!0 -
