Where is that thread about colonoscopies?
Men of this forum (and ladies,)...
There was a thread on here that I am too lazy to dig up. However, it was a discussion about colonoscopies. If you remember this thread, you remember that I said to set your pride aside and have one done due to the fact my Grandpa was dieing of colon cancer. Well, fast forward a few weeks, my Grandpa is out of the hospital after a week, and at my parents house. He has colon cancer, prostate cancer, it is on his liver, bladder, stomach, etc... He told my Mother on Tuesday night that he had 48-72 hours to live and did not want to die in a hospital. He told my parents he would die on Thursday. Well, today is Thursday.
What is the moral of this story you might ask?
DO NOT BE SO BULL HEADED AS TO NOT HAVE YOUR COLON EXAMINED!!! WHAT MY GRANDFATHER HAS ENDURED FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED!!!!!!!!!!! INSTEAD, THE CANCER SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE AND IS QUICKLY TAKING HIM FROM US!! DO NOT LET YOUR PRIDE GET IN THE WAY OF SAVING YOUR OWN LIFE!!!!!!!!

Yep, they found pre-cancerous polyps in me back in '97 - I've been getting scope thing regularly ever since. 0 -
I agree! Like so many people I put it off for years, but finally had one this year, I'm 61. I was fortunate, they removed 6 benign polyps and based on their findings recommended that I have my next one in 5 years. You can bet I will! 0 -
Search colonoscopy under v35.
This subject needs to be aired regularly.
A radio talk show host once made a big point of scary results of the test.
I was very impressed and told myself; "One of these days.."
Well, by the time I got around to having it done, it was almost too late.
They had to remove the whole cecum, part of the transverse colon and the ileocal valve. A few thousandths of an inch separated the aggressive tumor from my liver.
By chance, prayers of my friends & family and the grace of God, I'm still on the right side of the grass 11 years later.
There's no family history of cancer.
Get it done!
I hope I rattled at least one cage.0 -
My next one is scheduled for July 12.

I'm still young enough that i don't need it yet. I recommend them to my paients at the age of 50, then every 5 yrs. Sad to say, we still find those men who don't get it done untill the caner has spread. 0 -
Had one last year. Happy to report that I'm a perfect A__hole!!
Seriously, my Dad had a section of colon removed with no recurrence. He died of prostate cancer 7 years later. Get that checked YEARLY at least. It's a slow and painful, not to mention needless way to go.0
