new project...

old lefever sxs was not well love in its previous home,
someone was playing "fix-it" at some point and besides filed down sears that wont catch, it no longer cocked, bbl latch ground down so it wouldnt lock tight, a bent fireing pin, and the cocking indicaters are missing.

what looked like "striped" grain in this pic...

was actually dents in the wood that got darker than the rest as you can see, they vanis when you sand down like here where i am starting re-repair on an old split. (that was never glued, just 5 or 6 small brass pins stuck in it that were a little above the finish)

also something HAS to be done about this PLASTIC plug in the fore-arm, what the idea was behind this i have no clue

and of course after all the "works" parts and stock are done, it will need some re-browning as (i think) you can see the pitting in this pic

will post pics as it gets done, but this will be a bit of a project and take a bit of time to complete working just evenings as i also have a couple re-finish jobs due in next week
with damascus barrels i doubt they were kept well enough to ever be a shooter again, but it should be a good test of what i have learned so far from my mentor
