Info. on walmart gun sales

I went to walmart to do some shopping and talked to the manager about gun sales. He said that their plan is to only sell guns in the top 1000(in gun sales) stores across the country. The store I shop at is number 22 on the list. He said that it all has to do with profit margins and the extra hassle it is to carry guns in each store. The guns have to be kept in a secured area and they have to always be concerned with theft. A manager always has to be the one to complete the sale. That is why they decided to do it. He said their new plan is in no way an attack on 2nd amendment rights or lawsuits from people killing themselves with guns that were bought from them(like some have said here).

    Expensive tvs aren't designed to kill, and Walmart isn't going to get sued for someone taking a stolen TV and dropping it on someone else's head.

    But, Walmart will get sued if someone breaks in and steals one of their guns because they didn't take adequate precautions to prevent those guns from getting into the wrong hands.

    Corporate jackasses told the employees to say that . They are definitely opposed to the 2nd amendment . I think the real reason they are dropping guns is that the cant find little chinese and vietnamese girls to work for .30 cents an hour making them for them ....[:)]

    How do you figure that they are "definitely opposed to the 2nd amendment?" Is there some sort of press release that I missed?

    My BIL and I were talking about this again last night. He said Wal-Mart only had a 3-6% markup on guns. They just aren't a money-maker. Then he told the REAL truth....with what they pay, they can't find anyone to work in sporting goods who is able to consistently get the forms filled in and called in right! Said he knows of 2 managers in his region who have been let go because of screwed up paperwork. He is a store manager...not a sporting goods manager, nor an assistant manager, but THE store manager at a Super wally world. He knows of what he speaks. Also said that early next year, ALL Wal-Marts would stop selling guns. Just waiting until their FFL is up for renewal.

    And for you guys with "crafty" wives, they are also getting out of the fabric sales business.

    He does know of what he speaks, and only speaks of what he is told to by his superriors. He has to feed his family too, and loosing a job like his due to loose lips, I am sure is not in his future plans. The only reason the profit margins are falling off, is that they are not buying the quantities they once used to, because a phase out is imminent. They are being political champions about it, as they took the lesson well from K-Mart taking up with Rosie Odonnel about the 2nd Ammendment issue. But then all litigation, and liabilities speak for themselves.

    It is a business, not political decision. Guns have very, very little profit margin, and Huge liabilty. Your neighboorhood gun shop is far less likely to get sued, and when it does it will not be for 10's of MILLIONS like walmart does
    .
    Huge liability, hard to find competent workers, should be no surprise.
    yes, I wish they still carried more, but if you want to blame somebody balme the "victims" and their lawyers that have sued walmart

    We just got a new Super Walmart and they are not selling gun's. I do not do business with them except to buy my drugs, they save me $86.00 a Mo. So I can afford to pay more for my guns and stuff some where else[:D][:D][:D][8D]
