something a bit different...

oldemagics
had some unusual wood that was just enough for my P-64.
This was a solid peice (note the grain match-up at the back strap) and this is how the color played through
not quite finished, but getting close.
NOTE: this is such a common wood you cannot BUY it, any guesses what it is?

    They're going to look pretty good, and may well be worth "stabilizing".

    There are ways of doing this at home that are fairly effective. But
    pro's such as wssi can do it sooo much better.

    some folks might think it would give you an itchy trigger finger...
    its poison ivy
    the stuff is pretty tough, will see how it stands up

    told my son last night that i would have to see if there was any more large trunks of poison in the fild edge
    got home from work and he had a 8' section laying by the porch waiting for me.
    here is a pic of the grain on larger vines, just cut accross

    Looks alot like sumac(sp)

    sumac is similar, but more yellow. it also has a habit of going hollow as it gets larger in size. may be just my eyes but i think the outer wod is a bit whiter on the sumac as well

    nope, even when i worked as a tree trimmer for the power co. in thick patches of it i never had an out-break

    Lots of folks are immune to poison ivy, and you are most probably imune to it too.

    Well...I'll be...., Never heard of anyone using poison ivy for anything. Will the wood give a rash to a person who is allergic to poison ivy, or is the poison only in the leaves?

    Thats a new one on me. Where I live (North) Poison Ivy never gets bigger than an annual vine. Didnt have a clue that it would grow that big.

    LOL. The only thing worse for me than poison ivy is sumac. I'm HIGHLY allergic.

    I'm glad someone can make use of it, but please, don't ever invite me to shoot your guns. [:D]

    not to worry, the alergic reaqction is only to the sap. once the wood is dry there should be no reaction to it, and once worked into grips it is sealed with finish besides
