I don't care much for Kevin Costner, but I really liked Open Range. I thought Robert Duvall was really good in this movie as well as Broken Trail.

Yep, Open Range was a great movie.
As Colt said, Broken Trail was fabulous as well.

To me the Movie was pretty good. Duvall's charactor was basically a re-hash of his great performance of Gus from "Lonesome Dove".
Interesting sidenote on the Costner anti-gun thing. Glenn Beck reported this week that he met Robert Duvall and found him to be a very down to earth person. Unlike most Hollywood stars. And he asked him how he managed to stay so, when all of Hollywood seems to be nutcases.
His answer: "I don't live in Hollywood. I live in Virginia. I only go to Hollywood to work".
    I like Robert Duvall.

Just so you don't get the impression Duvall is "Joe Everyman" read this. He brought a little Hollywood wacko liberalism with him to Virginia. This quote from my local paper today...

quote:During an impromptu news conference following his testimony, Duvall likened Dominion's push to bring its high-voltage lines through Rappahannock, Fauquier, Culpeper, Prince William and Loudoun counties to "right-wing socialism." He also mentioned Dominion Power vehicles "sneaking" along a road in his neighborhood.

While some of the reported phrases Duvall used do appear to be kind of silly, I don't automatically equate him w/leftist tree huggers because of his position on this.
I'm sure we can understand someone who has built their home in a beautifull natrual setting, not wanting to see the views they invested to enjoy, damaged or destroyed.
Obviously one can't realisticaly hope to stop all progress and the unfortunant damage it can cause to natural settings. The area NEEDS the Electricity.
But I can understand him working to find the best possible marriage to the two.
