Does anyone work or play with airbrushing?

Has anyone tried this DVD and stencil kit? It's by Mike Lavallee.
he has been on hotrod t.v and has done alot of hot rod flames, or I guess I should say "Fire" as there is a differance.
if you have it, What did you think of it?
was it worth the $$$?

Haven't seen the DVD, but I have seen Mike on a couple of the shows putting down these realistic flames. He is a talented individual and I love this look.
I would try a few simple things with the airbrush before I jumped into the realistic flames. Watching him paint them (on TV) it looked like many layers of different colors to get the desired look. It didn't look a technical as airbrushing a mural of a person, but I'm not sure I would try this as my first use of an airbrush. Wouldn't want to get discouraged first time out of the box.
BTW, I stayed at a hoiday inn express last night[:D]
Get the airbrush and try some shading and blending and then hit the realistic flames.0 -
Haven't seen that DVD, but do have an airbrush, AB compressor, and
a few boks here...somewhere.lol
I have done a few simple projects, but no flames. Come to think of
it, I probably need to list this equipment on fleabay, as it's not been used in forever.
I don't remember who did the books i have but much of his work looks
like photographs..simply amazing.0 -
The best way to learn to Airbrush (or anything else) IMHO, is to pick one up and practice, practice, practice. I'm sure the DVD is chock full of hints and tips, but nothing replaces actually having the Airbrush in hand. Like many things, there are many tricks to be learned. But once you know what to do, you too will become an expert.
Just a suggestion, but look into getting a DOUBLE ACTION Airbursh. It is the only way to fly (once you get the hang of it).0 -
I thought I'm dust off some of my old work (back when I thought I was an Artist). No flames, but now I'm tempted to dust off the brush. 0 -
