    It looks real nice, but I wonder why did the barrel needed replaced. It would seem that this M1 must have been very used & abused If it was shot out. If it was it would make wonder if it was an import? By replacing the barrel wouldn't the import stamp also be removed? If so there is no way of knowing its history by just looking at it. I'm sure there are some here who are more knowledgeable about M1's then I, so correct me if I am wrong, but an imported M1 shouldn't bring as much as a CMP, or even a newer Springfield M1.

    I don't know if you intend to shoot it in Garand matches but if you do you will have to change the sights.... it has national match sights on it.

    I've got an all original, all H/R Garand up on the board right now...it came as it is, with 1.0 TE/1.0ME and a CMP cert.

    It's considerably more than 995. I get lots of droolers in the shop over it.

    Would it be bad if it was an import, I do not intend to shoot it in Garand matches. i would just like a nice garand rifle to have and occasionally take to the range.

    I bought a really nice M1 off of gunbroker about 9 months ago. It was a CMP Danish Service grade that was listed as no reserve and ended up going for less than the CMP sells them for. Beautiful rifle that will shoot 2 inch 100 yard groups all day long.

    Yeah it's worth it. You can easily trade the NM front sight for a standard front sight to make it JCG legal. The replaced barrel to me indicates nothing more than you get a new barrel with far more accuracy than whatever was on it before. Most WWII M1's have a barrel replacement. Relatively few still have their original barrrels and they bring a premium. The CMP sells their select grades which have repacement stocks and commercial barrels for about $875. That should guide you on the price of this one. I don't think I'd go over $800 for it but it seems to me to have been put together with some care. You should easily be able to offer the front sight to someone and get another front sight and $20 in change for it. If you get the rifle I'd quickly trade you a replacement and $20 for the front sight. Which only means that someone else might offer you even more. Don't go over $850 for it simply because you are getting into select grade territory at that price and when you buy from the CMP instead you know that the rifle has been carefully checked and inspected for proper functioning prior to shipment.     in picture number 12 is that gap supposed to be like that? So what you guys are saying is that the rear sight is correct but the front sight is not?

    Looks nice but do not pay more than $800 for it.
