dimples in my brass?

ive just noticed that when i pop the magazine into my mini-14
the case hits the bottom of the bolt and leaves a dent in it right about the base of the neck, can this cause any problems with the case? i havn't noticed anything.
also ive been thinking about begining to reload the .223, could this cause problems with that?

    When you fire the rounds, the pressure will iron out most all dents.

    Any problems you may have would be with feeding, if I got your description right. Does it dent every round, or just the first one in line? If it is just the first one, load one less, or don't slam the magazine so hard. Does it happen on all magazines or just one? You may have a bad magazine.

    Should give you little to no trouble reloading, but may cause the shells to fail sooner than if they never were dented.

    I think you have a factory dimensional irregularity.

    Does it do it when you gently insert the mag, without slapping it around??

    I've had around a dozen Mini-14s and have never experienced that.

    I'd ship it back to Ruger, with a couple of the cases.

    Don't know how big the dings are, and couldn't comment on the reloading suitability, anyway.

    I agree with Handload. Also loading your magazine when your bolt is locked open will eliminate this.

    in the 25lbs 223 i have bought to reload some had the dent in ??? so someone else must have the same problem with there gun

    Dings and dents are NORMAL with auto-loaders.
    What dents that don't smooth out during the reloading cycle will pop out when fired. NO BIG DEAL.

    thanks a ton for the replies, i think it is only hapening with the first round in the ruger factory 5 round magazine, which i hardly use, it happens even if i gently push the magazine in, ill try and get some pics of the dents.

    Sorry, didn't see the "br" on the first read. Was going to say that is a personal problem. But, yes, this normal on BRASS through a semi auto.
