The reason why Black people/African-Americans/Whatever say they are proud to be black and not for example wear a "Kiss me I'm Igbo" shirt is because most have absolutely no idea of where their ancestors came from or in what proportions (to be fair this is not really their fault).

Most white/other people do know whether they are of Italian descent or mostly Irish etc., also you should avoid the Aryan label unless you want to be viewed as an Iranian.

Why not just cut to the chase and be proud to be a descendent of a group that, as a world minority, has produced the finest art, constructed the greatest monuments, created practically all of the technical advancement, cured more disease, and had more overall positive impact on the history of this planet than any other.

Also know that if the others, who would destroy our group under the guise of crusading against {fill in your politically correct name tag here}, are too stupid and short-sighted to realize that the destruction of our group will result in their sinking back into the muck that they have been carried out of.

Why not be proud of the accomplishments of mankind? Being born caucasian, is not that much of an accomplishment, it is an accident of birth at best.

Lots of food for thought in this thread.

I'm thinking about stereotyping. There are preconceived notions about people in groups. Without a lot of depth in thinking, these stereotypes are a lot like cliches - which I dislike, but are nonetheless based in observable fact.

I think a lot of us, of any color, do tend to use these stereotypes, when referring to groups. I also think that when we are exposed to INDIVIDUALS who are members of these groups, we find that they are people, just like us. But it's easier to refer to them as groups which fit the stereotypes.

I'm a pretty average looking white guy, whose appearance doesn't intimidate anyone. A few years ago, I shaved my head, just for the hell of it - I left my beard on. People in general reacted very differently to me - avoided eye contact and acted intimidated. Same guy, different hair. I was busy getting stereotyped. It really opened my eyes to a lot of parts of human nature that I had never explored before. Grew my hair back, and became invisible, again.

My point is that we put people into a bucket that's comfortable and easy to deal with for us. And others do that to us, also - "honkies".

I'm proud of my mongrel heritages for their histories, not because they are white. It's just easier to say I'm proud of being white, than to say "I'm proud of the accomplishments I have made during my life and also those of my English,Irish, Dutch, German and Cherokee forebearers" Try saying that - you'll get some funny looks.

My point: I can say that I'm proud I'm white, which is inclusive of all that stuff above, without being a racist statement.

    Right, Earl ??

"He should be proud of his accomplishments rather than his color."

This seems kinda like a paraphrase of part of Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech.

I quit checking the little box on papers for "Caucasion"

I have been checking "Native American" for quite a few years.

Why? Because I am. The Indians were transients that moved to the America's and settled...so the heck were we.

Actually I don't live in North America anymore but still consider myself Native American....it's where I'm from.

Anyways great granpa got in on with a squaw and there is some Indian blood in me anyways.

Everyone is a mutt unless you are Jewish, Chinese, or Japanese. They are the perfect people.

You should apologize to every black person you see for being white everyday. And start a reparations fund going. Maybe we can all chip in here from the forums.
