I Have No Friends
I have a g/f that doesnt live with me and we see each other 4 times a week. Other than that I just realized I have no friends. I have had many friends in my life but as of right now NONE. Is that normal ? I always have contact with people for work and occasionally I see them outside of work but I dont have a regular everyday friend.
For instance, if I want to go shooting tommorow, there is no one I can think of to call and go shoot with.
No one ever invites me to parties or sporting events or stuff like that. In the past they have but for the last 6 months...NO FRIENDS.

Barking Dog, dont feel bad, i had tons of friends i delaware, but i moved to florida two years ago, and i have one maybe two people i would call and hang out with. But i guess thats because i dont like people bothering me all the time. My brother lives with me so i hang out with him everyday, and hes my best friend, i would kill for him and he would do the same for me. So no worries. Buck up litle camper! 0 -
Go to a shooting range and make new friends. You have something in common, no. 0 -
Get rid of the girlfriend and you will make all kinds of friends. 0 -
go cycling,go to the range, get to a bar, the gym.......loads of folk out there ...wether they will be ''friends'' is a diffrent matter..
where's the family??0 -
Barking Dog,
If it doesn't bother you, it's not a problem. If it does, hey, there's plenty of GB folks around here![8D]0 -

You need to make friends outside the internet. It's not hard to do, but it's a thin line between being a friend and being a leech. Anyone that doesn't have a life off the web is some kind of an introvert. Some are timebombs. How can a person "fit in" if they don't fit in?
Any girlfriend without a circle of friends is kinda weird too.
No one (except maybe some Nordic Swine) is such a dork they have nothing to contribute to a relationship.0 -
What u saying Hog ? [:)] Nordic swines.... 0 -
It is not as weird as you think....Stop and take a look around...In the last 10 years there has been a bid decline in the social network of the average person....
It used to be that everyone knew their neighbors, shared coffee or backyard bbq's, played cards perhaps on the weekends etc....and then things the economy changed, media hype etc,...
Now to just survive a family needs both parents working or the man holding two jobs, therefore its not the family together at night and on weekends anymore.....When they are seen its either coming from or going to work....There is no time for friends...
You cant hug kids anymore, you will be accused of sexually molesting them...you cant discipline them--- thats abuse....you cant even play football or games with them cause heaven forbid your hand might touch them and then you are in big trouble....cant tease your neighbors wife, thats sexual harassment....See what I mean?...and the media makes a big to do about everything, over and over and over and then over again....
People are afraid to do anything and with good reason....So instead of forming new friends we tend to stay alone, at least that way we really cant be accused of anything...or can we?...0 -
WOW! Well stated, Its the fast life for most,I do my best to leave the fast life at my desk when I go home. Your so right, I have neighbors that dont know my name, or I theirs.

[8D]-Yo BarkingDog--Go to church !!
--Well you probably don't like that idea (neither do I), but a fairly good idea is to start voluntering at several of your local hospitals-meet a ton of people and choose WHO you like --

Not weird.....while I had a social circle of what I would categorize as "aquaintances" in my teens and 20's, people I would socialize with, mostly friends of my now ex, coworkers I would go out for a few with after work, etc..., I never really had anyone who I truly considered a "friend" until I was in my mid 30's.
They are worth waiting for. Like the saying goes, "A friend will help you move. A real friend will help you move the body."0 -
Oh, the poor baby. My God man, get a pair! 0 -

Your not very nice.[B)] Consider yourself lucky if you have one good friend.0 -
Maybe stop barking? There are lots of friends out there, but you will not find them in bars. Look to the kinds of organizations that share your interests, shooting clubs, rock hound clubs, model boating clubs, whatever it is. 0 -
if you untie him and leave the basement door open, and he doesn't run off, he's your friend. 0 -
Step #1 shower
Step #2 brush teeth
Step #3 shave/trim facial hair
Step #4 wash/ buy clothes
You'll be amazed at how much friendlier people will be....[}:)][}:)][}:)][:o)]
sorry, could'nt help myself.0 -
Don't feel bad I have one person I hang out with maybe every 6 months. Friends are more trouble then they're worth most of the time. I left my "friends" back in high school. My wife is my friend now and that is all. 0 -

Is it just me or has friendship become pretty much a thing of the past.
Growing up in the 1960's & 70's, everyone in the neighborhood, kds, parents and non-parent's alike, knew one another. And we socialized. Had BBQ's etc.
I've lived in the same place for 10 years and I don't know what my neighbors names are. And it's not that I'm unfriendly. I've tried talking to them and except for important "business" type things like electric/water outages, they seem to have no interest. Usually they won't even wave.
We live very quietly and keep our home & yard up (better than theirs in fact), so I can't imagine that WE've done anything to offend them.
Not only that, but I recently (via HS reunion) was reaquainted w/some old childhood friends. People I grew up with and felt very close ties to. Very friendly at the reunion. Not the least bit interested in maintaining contact & friendship.
At work, everyone comes, does his job and goes his seperate way. No one socializes beyond the workplace.
Even the friends we do have don't really act like friends. Many times we've planned something w/"friends", only to have them not show up. No call, no kiss a butt or anything. Finally you see them and all they say "Something came up".
And it seems to me that all this aloofness has taken root in about the last 10 years or so.
We used to know our neighbors and have friends. And we're the same people we were then. I really don't think it us.
Does it seem this way to anyone else?0 -
I would like to interject that those who have or are currently serving in the military the concept of friends is not dead. I am fortunate enough to work with a lot of the same people that I did when I was in the Navy. I had a standing friend-base as soon as I moved here. We go out a lot and do all sorts of things.
Most of the guys that I served with I still consider friends and even though I don't see all of them that often, I would not hesitate to drop everything and go to where they are to help them out, and I know that they would do the same for me. That is the definition of friendship. And, yes, rcrxs old lady, I would help them get rid of a body.[:D]
My neighbors and most of the people that I work with are social aquaintences. Nothing more.0 -

Pretty much.
Friends are forged through adversity. Whether it's a god-awful job thet you stick with just because the paycheck is pretty good and you have a spouse and a home and children to feed, or a military experience, or a shared experience, like an illness or divorce. It's the "been through hell and back and who was there for me"-thing.0 -
I don't like most people so the fewer freinds I have is the better. I have to deal with over 800 customers a day. That is all i can handle 0 -
I have a lot fewer friends than ex-wives. Don 0 -
I don't hang out with anyone other than family. But I'm good with that and that's my choice. I don't really feel bad for ya. If you really wanted to meet people. There are many ways that could be achieved. It just depends on if you want to socialize with people or not. It's one's choice. Plus you have a girlfriend you see four times a week. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. If it bothers you that much, then go do something about it.[;)] 0 -
