...Im sure it (meth) is a "choice" the first time but, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time someone uses it? Does that stuff "hook" you after only one time(?)...then your addicted and have a fight on your hands; which it's rather apparant these folks are loosing the fight big time!
...Makes me think about the folks you see on the news that weigh 7-800 lbs! WTH were THESE people thinking? Did these rather rotund people NOT notice that there "might" be a problem when they noticed their weight creep up a tad over 500, 600, 700 lbs??!! The pics are very familar looking when every once and awhile a prospective tenant will fill out an application. I will look over the application and just ask a question to them... How long have you been a crackhead? They look at me like I am some mindreader or something..Then they ask me.. How did you know?? I will tell them.. Your application says you are 28 but you look like you are 58. 0 -
Select, do you rent to 'em? If you do, how does it usually turn out? I know this sounds silly, but Im curious. Regardless of laws...I think I would find a reason not to rent to these people myself.
...I have several friends with rental property and painting, changing floorgoods etc. when tenants move, is just considered the cost of doing business. Considering the lifestyle these junkies probably live, I'd think they might pretty much wreck a place thru neglect, abuse etc?...[;)]0 -

Seems like sex plays a big part, the women drop and spread, the men like it cause the women drop and spread.
Trouble is after a while the effect goes the opposite way, but too late, you're hooked!

I tell the crackheads how much I hate drug users.. then show them the way out. I might go as far as mentioning the Sheriff's Dept. and the head Narcotics man's name.And I usually do it in a tone of voice that they understand to tell all their other Drug users to stay away ..0 -

to answer your question, YES it only takes one time and your hooked. although it is alot easier to stop after only one time. like most drugies it start as a one time experiment. Meth is the #1 most addictive drug ever manufactured. It has been told that UTAH is the METH capital of the World??? don't know that for a fact just what the local nightly news would say everytime there was a bust that made the news.
unfortunatly, my bonehead brother is a recovering addict. he said he had only ever used meth 3 times. and he has been 6 yrs now since his last hit. He says he still craves it. from time to time. He11 he can smell it cooking 3 blocks away. when he smells he says that the cravings intensify.
it can be done (recovery) but the withdrawls can be almost as deadly if not deadlier as the drug it self. there is an exstremely high rate of suiside in recovery programs for former meth users.0 -

He he...a guy that worked for me once (Arthur) had a 6'6" guy show up at his door proclaiming to be his cousin from Los Angeles...he'd NEVER seen the guy before [:D] After a few words Arthur found out the big guy was really his cousin.
He asked what he was doing here? The big guy said "Im here to stay with you until I find a job" [:D]...when his cousin walked in, Arthur noticed he had F YOU! tattoed on the back of his neck [:D]...true story, and he stayed with Arthur a month...[:0]
I laugh about that everytime I think about it. Arthur was about 6'4" 300 lbs. and in his early 20's...a real "baby huey"0 -
What amazes me is how many come to the ER thinking i have no idea that the 58 year old looking 28 yr guy who needs help with pain isn't a drug addict. They always come up with the dumbest excuse or reason they need medication. I like to ask them for another even better reason cuz i just don't believe them. 0 -

We had a guy in our office (business environment) get hooked on it. He ended up spending his all of his daughters college fund and pawning most of his wife's jewelry before he got help. Now his daughter is scrambling to secure scholorships and funds for college (she is a high school senior this year) and will more than likely be forced to go to a state school instead of the many private/out-of-state schools that she had originally been planning to go to. 0 -
Many many many years ago I went to collect rent off of a tenant. No one was home. I tried again a few days later. Another tenant said the Sheriff's Dept. arrested the man and his wife. Wow.. So I called the Sheriff's Dept. to see if they were indeed arrested. Yep.. and they told me why... writing perscription drugs and signing a Dr's name at your local CVS drugstore. They were both in jail. Wow.. So I filed an eviction for nonpayment, Went to court in two weeks and of course neither of them appeared cause they were still in jail. When my case came up, the Judge ask me if I seen them in the courtroom. I said no to him and told him where they were. He called the jail from the bench and told me to go see one of them and have them tell me who to get in touch with to get their furniture and belongings out of my rental. Judge said to me.. they are going to be in jail for awhile.. So... I went to the jail. County Officer brings up the tenant. He wants me to bail him out !!!! The Officer starts laughing and I start laughing and the tenant has no clue why we are laughing. So I give the tenant a piece of paper and a pen to write on to tell me who to call so the rental can be emptied of all their stuff. I call the guy the tenant gave me and meet him the following day. He shows up in a Ford Escort. I open the house up and his friend and him take a six pack of beer out of the refrig. a box of food they took out of the cabinets and a hat. He says I can have the rest of everything in the home. I have him sign a paper out of my receipt book and they leave. The whole house full of furniture was as nice as I have in my home. I gave some of it away and sold the rest. OH... His friends were crackheads too.. 0 -

It causes bad teeth rot, which is known as "meth mouth."

I see this crap all the time in my neck of the woods. The bad part is we all end up paying for it. If these people live to be 40 their bodies are shot. Of course they have no insurance or other means to pay for medical help. So we all pick up their bill. These people are useless and a waste of air.....And with some of the stuff they put into meth, I dont understand how you can take it once and not die.. 0 -
A slight correction for some here: Crack is a form of smokeable cocaine, meth is called crank. Totally different animals.
Been dealing with meth here since long before the rest of the country woke up to this stuff. We were hitting large meth labs way back in the early 80's, when Texas and S. California were THE production areas that supplied the rest of the country. The meth business has gone through significant changes over the years, but there's a little acknowledged reason for it's nationwide spread.
Prior to the mid-80's an actual lab set-up was required to make this stuff. You had to have fairly exotic glassware and equipment, raw chemicals by the gallon, at least a basic knowledge of chemistry and an isolated location where this ~16 hr. odorous process could be conducted. You normally saw meth being produced by the pound using this method.
Laws restricting the sale of precursor chemicals eventually slowed these type labs, but about the same time the pseudophedrine based process (Nazi method) came about. I remember first hearing about this new system from up in the white supremacist/neo-Nazi areas of the northwest US, but it spread from there rapidly.
A significant difference between these two is the pseudophedrine based cooks you see are only producing a small amount of product because it takes hundreds and hundreds of these tablets to produce only an ounce of product. Due to restrictions on the sale of this over the counter medication, large amounts of Nazi-cook meth is very rarely seen. Normal batches can actually be measured in just grams. In other words, all those meth labs you hear of these days are generally only producing enough for the small circle of people involved in obtaining the ingredients and doing the cooking. They get a lot of publicity, but these labs aren't the source of the vast majority of our meth.
If you see more than a couple of grams of meth it's a safe bet it was produced in Mexico. If it's ice it's just about guaranteed to be imported. They're able to produce meth down there in quantities never possible in the US. We've proven we can make a significant impact on our domestic meth production, but thanks to our southern neighbors both the amount and quality of meth are at an all time high.0 -

98% pure meth, called desoxyn, is one of the main ingredients in those plastic tube Vicks inhalers. Invented around the time of WWII to keep bomber pilots awake to fly over Germany and back to England.
The crap these people are using now is an abberation of the original, and is really a toxic poison in disguise.
The necessary chemicals to make it, have either been banned from production, or strictly controlled. The base for it is dissolved aluminum, usually dissolved with something like Red Devil drain cleaner, and then washed in Methyl Ethyl Ketone (paint stripper). Great stuff to stick in your body huh? Landfills consider the ingredients toxic waste, and DEA agents that have to clean up a "cooking kitchen", have to wear full Haz-Mat suits.
The sores are from the ingestion of the dissolved metals that the liver can't filter out, and the supression of the body's immune system. Besides the sores and rotted teeth, irreversible liver and lung (from smoking it) damage occurs.
The addictive part of it is the same as crack cocaine, it stimulates the part of the brain that produces the same endorphans that an orgasm produces, in much larger quanities.
There is one redeeming value with desoxyn. On victims of brain damage caused by trauma, younger than 12yrs old, it's proven to cause the brain to regenerate lost functions in another part of the brain.0 -
