HOW MANY OF YOU LIKE HORSERADISH?...
We had pork chops tonight for dinner and classic just likes them fried with a bit of garlic and pepper, but likes to have a bit of something on them...He has had mint jelly, cranberry sauce etc..
I picked up something at the store this afternoon, its two of his favorite things combined...
HORSERADISH AND CRANBERRY SAUCE....
Silver Spring puts it out, available at Publix and it is very very nice...The cranberry sauce adds a bit of sweetness to the horseradish, making for a very very nice condiment to go with meat...

I might just have to try that! 0 -
BR, thanks for the heads up on that, I'm going to have to try some. 0 -
I love the stuff! I grow it and grind it up. God forbid you stick your nose in the container after it has sat for a day in the fridge, you'll get whacked!
Fresh is THE best try it!
Buy a whole root, grind it up in a food processor add a little white vinegar(to keep it from spoiling) and let it age a few days.0 -
Good stuff and I will have to try your idea, crying all the way down.[:D][:D][:0] 0 -
yep that sounds great, i love horse radish mixed with sour cream for meat dip
funny thing i live about 3 miles from the "horseradish capitol" of the U.S., i may just have to get some pics this week, if you buy it in a jar it comes from keller farms in collinsville Illinois, not the cleanest air in the world if you ask me, but the stuff thrives here0 -
I'll take some horseradish and mix it with ketchup and make a dipping sauce for fried shrimp. 0 -
Reminds me of grape goobers. The jelly with peanut butter already mixed into it so all you have to do is get a butter knife full and spread it. 0 -

Here's a link to the online store in case its not available in your area...I am surprised it is in the store here, considering its from Wis. and they dont often bring stuff in from "up there"...
They have some great sounding mustard mixes too....
best of all, they are very reasonable..

you can add anything you want for taste, but the original recipe was just ketchup and horse radish0 -
...and a splash of Tabasco.

Love horseradish? Then plant it. And forget it. It's a runner plant, and it is a plant that will take over the garden, if left unmolested. When fresh horseradish dip is called for, no need to peel it. Just wash it, then take a new green Scotch-Brite pad, wrap it around the root, and scrape it like you would milk a cow's teat, using a hard, circular motion (not joking)[:D]. Once it becomes white, you've removed the skin. Then add your fav. ingredients, and puree it in a strong blender. I say strong, because H/R root is almost as tough as soft wood. Should dice it into small pieces first. Best, Joe 0 -

Or with ketchup and mayo to dip the crawfish in!0 -
hhmmmmmmm... wonder how vodka would taste with a little horseradish soaking in it... [:p] 0 -
I also grow it and grind it. Wife won't let me grind it in the house anymore after I had a strong batch and it ran everyone outside. 0 -
Horseradish is some good eatin... 0 -
2nd post. Heed Warpig's musings. Fresh horseradish ground in an enclosed space will act like a tear-gas bomb. If you have a pet bird in a cage, I strongly suggest you remove the cage to another room. It killed one of my parakeets. Best, Joe 0 -

I live across the River from Collinsville in Saint Louis. The Horseradish Festival there is a pretty good time, and the Horseradish is great. It'll make your eyes water.[8D]0 -
Hanfelder's Farms horseradish is more readily avalable in the grocery stores. Right there by Keller Farms too. Collinsville/Granite city area. 0
