Hylander 50: Where are you?
I was coming back up I85 from Georgia today and I was out in the country. About 1 mile north of an exit ramp, I saw two sleeping bags in their packing bags setting on the grass in the median.
I think somebody set them on the luggage rack last night, when they were getting gas, and left them up there when they hit the road again, and when they hit 65 off they flew.
I took the next exit, went back to the last exit, went back north again, and pulled over into the median and got them. Nearly got killed getting back on that damn road, shouldn't have stopped, really.
One is a Kelty Lupine 20 degree polyester fill.
This bag was made 7 years ago, is no longer made evidently.
I gather that this bag cost $80 to $100 new.
The other bag is an REI Polar Pod 20 degree bag, polyester fill. It looks newer, although the older bag is in great shape, too.
I found it on the internet, $85.
Both of these bags are in very good shape. Not a burn mark, no stains, not a thread pulled loose. They are used, but have been very well cared for. Zippers work fine.
I don't go camping much, and I have a sleeping bag, anyway.
If somebody would like these bags, tell me why in one sentence, and I will give them to somebody in 24 hours. I will box them up, and take them to the post office and get a shipping cost. You mail me the cost of shipping and they are yours.
I just mailed a green deer hide to Florida for $10, so shipping cost will be in that vicinity.
Pretty cheap giveaway, I am giving away something I found on the side of the road. But what am I supposed to do, throw them in the dumpster?

When living in California, I lent my sleeping bags and vapor barriers to a visiting brother-in-law & his fiance, after which said bags were inadvertently left in his rental car, leading to a situation in which I have a cook stove, camp chairs, tent, and miscellaneous gear intended to make one's retreat into the Great Outdoors more comfortable, but, alas, I no longer have any bedding, which I must secure before April, that being the time when I have promised the Missus a week of idyllic retreat upon the shores of the Lake at French Creek, under the stars and far from the cozy mattresses upon which one is accustomed to slumber. 0 -
My wife is threatening to put me out in the shop, because I spend too much time on GB, I don't have a sleeping bag, at least I wouldn't freeze.[:D] 0 -
Remember they are only 20 degree bags, so if you are going to camp at 20 degrees, or less, they won't be worth a crap. 0 -

Our Scout Troop could use those two bags. Our boys are not from the richest part of town. Some cannot even afford full uniforms. I will gladly pay the shipping to get them for a couple of our boys. 0 -

I would really like 1 of your sleeping bags to strap down on my motorcycle when I go to a rally and also to keep in my pickup thru the cold Minnesota winter so I could keep my arse warm if I end up in the ditch during a snow storm. 0 -

I am "Mr. xxxxxxx has a couple and if you ask, he'll let you use one." around here. Every time the BS troup does their merit badge camping thing, I can count on several knocks at my door. Two more bags would mean two less times I tell some kid they're all spoken for.

No one tags an $80 sleeping bag unless they do heavy Youth Hostel travel [or the like].
You use it for a few seasons, give it to a less fortunate, and buy another.
An art student started "onecoldhand.com" to list single gloves she found.
She has reunited four people with a missing glove.

Hylander 50 gets them because it is for the Boy Scouts. I had a great time going on campouts in Boy Scouts and Explorers, and I froze the first few times because I did not have a sleeping bag.
I tell you what, I am not going to the post office to find exact shipping charges, because it is a 7 mile drive. It would take 30 minutes and $2 of gas, not cost effective.
Just send me $15, I know I have to buy a new roll of duct tape anyway to close this cardboard box, but I won't use all of it on this project. Anyway that will cover my costs but won't make me rich.
