Potential Concern for WA Residents
I was watching the good ol news this morning, and the mayor of Seattle was saying how gun crimes are on the rise and he wants to try and get the "assault" weapon ban back on, require locks on all stored firearms, and stop the buying of guns at gun shows w/out background checks. He will not understand that wont help at all, but make it worse.

Lowrider once pointed out to me one good point in Washington's constitution. The constitution states that cities can't make a more restrictive gun law than state law, therefore any outlawing of guns that butthead wants must pass the whole state. 0 -
Yeah, and ol' liver-lips Seattle Mayor Nickels is steady lobbying the Governor and Legislature to do just that. He wants to be like Chicago's Mayor Daley and call the shots for the entire state. Those liberal limp-wrists in Seattle think they ARE the whole state. [:(!] 0 -
There's a bill in the WA house now that would eliminate the "gun show loop hole" for waiting periods/background checks in WA. It is generally not supported by the law enforcement agencies and other groups, if for no other reason than without access through gun shows, the determined/ineligible buyers would go "underground" and make the problem completely beyond regulation. So I understand that the bill is going to a quick funeral. 0 -

All the WAC shows require you to be a member before you can buy a firearm and you have to pass a background check before you can be a member. Maybe nickles should go to a gunshow and see what really goes on before he promotes laws that are not needed. 0 -

The state of Washington has the same problem as my home state of Tennessee. The state has a fairly low population but most of that is in larger cities who tend to be anti-gun. The rural areas and smaller cities tend to be pro-gun but come up short when it comes to voting. That is how the democrates are making their liberal comeback in politics right now--thru the major population centers of the big cities. If this country has another revolution it will be between the large cities verses the rest of the country represented by the smaller towns and cities sided by the rural areas. Unfortunately the strength in the future will continue to grow in favor of large cities as that is the current population growth patterns. The small town/rural area is shrinking more all the time and I don't see any change in the immediate future. One of the problems that is facing many small communities is that people who are moviong into the rural areas are in large part coming from large cities. These people are running from the increased crime, high taxes, and other big city problems but are bringing the same mideset with them and in some cases are outvoting the locals on election day. Thereby instituting the same failed policies that caused them to leave the heavily populated cities in the first place. My opinion anyway. 0 -

Bingo!! Well Said! That is the future of the US folks and it ain't a pretty sight for the future of gun ownership. All gun owners need to drop everything right now and join the NRA because then the politicans would see an organization with 70-80 million members and vote accordingly. Now they laugh at the small membership of 3-6 million members and they don't take it seriously because gun owners don't support their own groups.
The only way to get their attention is to become a large big voting block! Wake up gun owners![:0][:0][:0]0 -

Ditto, I just wish all the Kalifornia transplants would move out. What we need are two winters in a row where it starts raining in November and doesn't stop 'til May---might get them to pick up stakes and move out.0
