Taurus 1911

That tactical model Rock has all the same features except the rail.
My tactical now has over 8500 rounds through it and it has been flawless (as have my other 6 Rocks).0 -

I was in no way stateing that the Taurus was a bad gun. I have heard good thing about it.
I only feel that the Rock is on atleast the same level with it and is even less money and the onlt feature you are giving up is the rail.0 -
It might be petty to some, but the Taurus has the slanted groves on the the slide... front and rear and they are spaced farther apart for a better grip and also the front of the grip is checkered and also under the trigger gaurd. The grips have a better grip on them, just to name a few. Maybe I'm just anal,lol. But it has some great features for the price and looks to have very nice craftmanship. Looks like Taurus really paid attention to detail on this 1911. 0 -

I went out a while back to buy a Taurus PT1911 and left with a Para 1911 LTC. I've heard a lot of good things about the PT1911. The only thing I don't like about them is all the writing on the slide. 0 -
That 1911 Taurus is one of the best values to come along for many years.
I put one thru its paces a year or so ago...then handed it over to the 8-time Trooper pistol Champ of Oklahoma.
He said that it was the first pistol he ever handled that he would slide into his holster and go on patrol with without having to gunsmith..and accuracy was superb.0 -

The only thing that stops me from wanting one, is the grooves on the front of the slide.
To me, that is a ridiculous, yuppie affectation.
Not for me, although I am normally a real fan of Taurus.

Pretty is as pretty does.
I could keep every round under my palm at 25 yards..and I ain't no pistol shot.
I fired it about 200 rounds..and so did Mike. No jams, no stovepipes, no nothing save 'more, more'..fun to shoot.
I have used a Sig 220 for many years...and I seriously considered trading for that gun.
I have several other .45s..the price went up a hundred bucks before the next show, and I haven't bought one. One of these days....
A friend bought it at the Big show a year ago...handed it to me and said..'wring it out'..

I have had one for almost a year. I have no complaints at all about it.
Mine is a tack driver. The only thing I have changed is to put Hogue mono-grips on it.

I have a Taurus 1911 and had a Kimber Custom II Target. There is no difference in accuracy and performance reliability from my experience. I gave my Kimber to my son for a birthday present, not because I didn't like the Kimber. I just wanted him to have a great 1911. I still have a great one as well.[:)] 0 -
Got one without the rail, had two stovepipes within the first 50 rds. and that was it. Put about 3000 rds. through it since then and it has worked perfectly. Its a great pistol, accurite, and a pretty good trigger also. 0 -
...Geez, South American and Philipino 1911's..that's like going to Waffle House to buy Mexican food, why not buy American, like a Colt; the one that started it all? You think there MIGHT just be a reason that the Colt 1911 is the MOST copied gun there is, think about it. Everything else is just a copy.

I own the taurus 1911, only problem was during first 100 rounds two stovepipes and the rear sight came loose. I little loktite on the sight screw and smooth shootin ever since. approx. 3000 rounds. 0 -
