The Christmas Spirit

I have none...[V] This has become a trend in recent years and I have it bad this year. Normally I'd get a good work out and feel better but I've got 4-5 more weeks of nothing high impact due to elbow surgery. I'll go to Judo tonight and get a good cardio workout but nothing makes me feel better than thowing someone on their back then choking them out.

    I haven't had any "real" Christmas spirit since 1980.
    It's called adulthood, I guess.

    Short of a couple of reasons to make it more like Christmas this year,.....my spirit is lacking also.
    Too much commercialization, and they start the pitch earlier every year.
    Also every year, we go through the proposed boycotts of companies that don't say "Merry Christmas".
    I think they should, but the companies stay the same almost every year,.......they are big enough to not care.
    Just don't shop there if it bothers you that much.

    I know part of my hang up is the commercialization of Christmas. I'm normally able to get over it by now. Oh well, now I'm hoping that some of the enthusiasm from my kids starts to grow on me.

    BTW I suspect He Dog is the Grinch.

    I prefer to enjoy things for what they mean to me and mine, not what some marketing freaks or PC agenda drones have to push. My thoughts are still my own.

    I must say, my Christmas spirit got ruined working retail for 15 years. We started talking about next Christmas in March, started working on it in July. Had everything up by the end of October. Then the maddening rush of shoppers, getting progressively snottier as their panic grows, as the day grows closer. Then blessed stillness of Christmas Day. Whew! Then, day after Christmas, had to be in by 4 in the morning, to get ready for the "after Christmas 50% off" sales, and to take down the Christmas decorations, and get ready to put up the swimwear.
    Almost a year of build-up for less than 24 hours of enjoyment.
    Probably why I now keep my tree up til the first week of January.

    This year, I am behind as usual, and extremely out of sorts because my CD of Polish Christmas carols is missing. (No jokes, please...they are quite beautiful, and a fond reminder of my childhood, when Christmas was magical).
