I agree. I have had friendships with females and have not had any sexual attraction to them.

The thought of every man having some sort of attraction to a woman, sounds to me like jelousy and lack of trust and respect.

with my wife, she has been hurt in the past, old flames, and her father was sleeping with her mothers best friend. but she is not the only one that i know that feels this way. most of the ones who have expressed this to me are female, however a couple of guys have said that they feel that way and are that way, they claim that they will not have a female friend that they would not sleep with given the chance.

There is also another view of this situation....

Tori is very friendly with my friends. Not flirty, but racy, sort of. Hard to explain. Some of my friends, a few are younger, don't know how to react. And some even believe she wants them. An extremely false statement, but they've asked me before if we were swingers or something.

I have lots of "girl" friends.
My wife knows about ALL of them.
    They know about the wife.

These girl friends will tell me things they will not tell anyone else, because they know there is nothing to worry about, concerning the sexual side of the relationship.
    We are just....friends.

Not to say ALL ladies are safe dropping their purse in front of me. [:0][}:)][;)][:D][:D]

i just cant seem to figure out what the deal is, in todays supposedly enlightend society, why some people choose to beleive that everything a man does, is driven by a basic sexual urge or desire. i didnt have a lot of female friends in high school, however, high school girls were always so girly. now that i am older and the females are older i find myself with more female friends, and i hear more and more from other people that i am trying to get into the sac with them. one woman i work with at work has become a good friend of mine, and we went to break at the same time the other day, another woman we work with said " you two enjoy your break together!" when we got back i asked her just what she meant by her comment and she said "we all know the only reason your friends with her is because you want to F*&k her." i told her she really needs to find a hobbie. and went back to work.

I've found one little gal I've been sleeping with for about 12 years now -
she don't ask - my wife don't ask - I don't ask. We all get along.

At my age, it's not good to take chances and sleep around ... with just anyone,
she's gotta be the special one.

... gotta be careful, gotta be particular, gotta keep it simple and discrete.

Whatever happens in private - stays private. Above all, it's important nobody
    gets hurt.

Love is a journey for two,
Step by step, me and you,
    The future we can't see,
Let love lead the way for you and me.

    Best pu**y in town!

    Even my son's agree.

Below is the only photo I've ever allowed of my little gal on the side,
    and me, sleeping together.

I'm trying--and failing--to think of a single female friend without whom I feel a little sexual tension. That doesn't mean I'd jump into bed with them, but for me it's there. I don't really know or care if the feeling is reciprocated, but men and women evolved to be attracted to one another to reproduce. So I'm thinking chicks probably have that sexual tension thing going on with their guy friends too. And I think many of them probably enjoy that without necessarily being willing to jump into bed with their guy friends, too, just like me.

Call me warped. That's how I see it.

    Apparently she already has one.

I had more female friends in college than male. We had our group of guys that hung out with us. All were good friends. A handful of guys and a couple dozen girls. Granted, the attraction to some of the girls was sexual, but not towards all of them. They were more fun to hang out with. They weren't always trying to one up you, act all macho around the girls, or just downright be stupid.

We'd pick a person's place, get out the liquor and "other" necessities, and just chill out. Too many times has someone gotten drunk enough to actually think they wanted to kick their best friends ass. It gets old after a while.

Ask any female that knows me, they will tell you I am caring, a good listener, compassionate. I know it sounds like I'm a little fairy, until you meet me and notice the opposite. Maybe my past choices in friends makes me such a good friend to the women I know now.

If you believe in Freud's concept of the subconscious this one is a no-brainer. Women are either mother or mate.

IN my career I have worked with a number of women, some of whom became very close friends, even until this day. My wife expressed no concerns because she said that I had a bid "M" (for married) on my forehead that only other women could see! She was one of a kind. Been gone nearly 9 years and I still miss her.

    -wlfmn323,

quote:some people that i know, my wife included, beleive that in a friendship between a woman and a man there exists alterior motives for the man. that in some primal way he is just friends with a female because he has a need to have potential sex partners............. i however beleive that it is perfectly possible to have a female friend and not have any sexual conotations to the relationship

I mostly disagree with you and side with your wife. It's 80% your wife and 20% you. She is right and you simply cannot or will not (conscious or unconscious) acknowledge that fact.

Sorry, that's how it is. Every woman a guy meets he mentally sizes her up, rates her and categorizes her as a potential sex partner. It's in the blood. That's your wife's 80%. BUT, that doesn't matter! The fact that we have female friends, enjoy their company and don't act on the impulse to hit on these ladies is what generally separates us from lower classes of mammals. And, that's your 20%.

I worked with a single woman who was my manager. She and I thought pretty much alike and were close enough that we could have these pretty hot disagreements and suddenly just start laughing about it and work out a solution together. I took a trip to San Francisco to a software convention and she was there, too. (I decided to go at the last minute.) We needed a place to plug in one of our laptops and remote access our company software, so we went up to her room. After we finished working, we sat there for a while talking and she asked me, "Well, are we going to do this or not?" I said something like, "I've been thinking about that, too. I've been wanting to long enough, that's for sure! But, first of all, we'd be in here for the rest of the convention (two days) and second of all we just might ruin a good thing and I don't want to do that." She agreed, we gave each other a little peck on the cheek and we went back downstairs to attend another presentation. That loosened things up between us even more and we became close friends. Neither of us actually stopped wanting to have sex, but we had established our boundries.

I think that a man and a woman can be "just friends," but with proper motivation, it could almost always turn into something physical.
For men, it is totally about the "score." As posted before, man meets a woman, and he is immediately "sizing you up." For women (most women, I should say) sex has to happen on an emotional level before the physical, so if you have an emotional attachment to a man, there is always the potential. But they can maintain a friendship if boundaries are established and understood. However, should motive and opportunity shift the boundaries, sex could and often does happen.
    It's called "friends with benefits."
