..It's possible, Martin. The word spread from one gun board to another. Something to keep in mind though: After reading many responses on the O.L. blog, way too many people resorted to swearing and name calling. Swearing makes us sound like the knuckle dragging apes that the antis like to portray us as. Try to use halfway correct spelling and punctuation.
..A form letter is no good. Think about when you receive one from your senator or congressman. It has no impact. Short, to the point, literate letters will get their attention.
..Attacking one man on a blog is easy. Can we generate the same type of fervor, when it may take a little time and effort? I would hope so.

I agree completely with tapwater. To be meaningful the communication to the lawmakers must be logical and communicated relatively respectfully. Otherwise, it will backfire and hurt the cause. Too many let their emotions (rather than their brains) choose the wording of the responses to Mr. Zumbos tragic blog.

    One small problem.

Our elected officials do not read the e-mail that gets sent to them. They have a person on staff that does that for them, that person also filters it. Ever write a letter, or e-mail one of our elected officials and get a form letter back thanking you for your input on an entirely different subject than what you wrote to them about?

Not sure of a good way around that, once they get to Washington, good intentions and most promises fall by the way side, they end up pursuing more money and more power. Each and every one of them. Not a lot of leverage from our positions as we have absolutley no way to affect their power or money. Vote for the other guy? It's a vicious cycle, he, or she will be doing the exact same thing in just a few short months with just a different spin to it.
A private citizen such as Zumbo, we can get to his boss/pocket book as we did here. Won't work with the elected elite. Our government has spiraled out of control and it's our own fault. Wish I had a good answer or solution but don't. I'll continue to e-mail our elected elite on subjects that I feel will affect me but don't think or expect too much change, a little lip service maybe but no real change.
Thanks for bringing up the subject of e-mailing the elected elite, I've e-mailed the person (I didn't vote for him by the way) a number of times concerning things that concern me like illegal immigration and have not yet received the courtesy of a reply. I believe it's time to squeak a little louder, and get some other folks to squeak too. I will promise him that every town meeting he attends the next time he runs for re-election and they all do, and be the one who will ask him publically why he is not responding to his constituants questions.
