I think I might have a virus...Any Ideas???
My computer has been making a heck of a racket all day long...sort of like it's running hard...pages have been loading slowly and it's taking programs a while to open or repsond to commands. My Outlook Express mailbox has been acting funnny. I don't know what's going on. I've run my outdated [B)][:I] Norton several times and my anti spyware programs and nothing seems to help...ANY ADVICE????

Agree with you 100% When I use to run Norton 2006 it would take 3-5 minutes for my pc to boot. Now it takes about 20 seconds.0 -
When I lost my hard drive the computer started making noise for awhile first, ran slow, and was extra slow loading up for a couple days. Then when I turned it on the 3rd day it would not load up. Took it to the shop and the hard drive was gone. 0 -

It may just be uploading online updates for your programs.
My computer will do the same thing for a day or so and then works fine.
I am far from anything resembling a computer nerd but it is just another idea to think about.0 -

Try giving CCleaner a try. You can Google it and down load for free. 0 -
I had the same problem recently. If you have XP, use system restore and go back to the earliest time that it was working properly. It says reversible if it doesn't work but it did for me. good luck 0 -
I too would agree with the system restore.
I downloaded limewire a few weeks ago and everything was good for 3 weeks and then I had some weird stuff going on so I ran the system restore to a point before I installed limewire.
Lime wire was removed during the restore and now My computer is running like a fine tuned race car.0 -
The system restore feature has not worked properly since we bought this system...I don't know what's up with it. 0 -
Lavasoft.com has the best adware I think. Its called Ad Aware and best of all its free. 0 -
Norton SUCKS. Get rid of it, get AVG.

I was talking to a local man who has a computer repair business about that. He said that he had NEVER cleaned up a computer that had Limewire installed that didn't have at least a couple of viruses on it, and was loaded with spyware. I agree with the get rid of Norton idea. It's system hog. (like aol) and will sometimes identify anti-spyware programs as a virus and try to block it, locking everything up till you manually shut down and restart.
ECC if you're hearing whining noises from the area where it's located, it may be the harddrive. sorry

Fluids and plenty of rest. 0 -
If the cooling fan is dirty and running slow it will let the cpu heat up too much and slow everything down and make the computuer act odd untl it frys totally. 0 -
Agree with Mercury, Norton's suxs.
Try this. Shut it down, pull the cover, blow it out with air, get the dust out of it. Put it back together and fire it up.
Usually let my Mac run all the time but sometimes it gets stupid, the always fix has been to shut it down, wait 5 minutes and fire it backup.0
