Pink Floyd--Dark Side of the Rainbow

Most of you have probably heard of synching Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon with the Wizard of Oz, but if you havn't ever actually checked it out, you should. It is incredible coincidence. Remember, the album is played through I believe 3.5 times, and throughout it has so many coincidences it is astounding, and yet remains beautiful and most often very "fitting" to the movie. It helps if you've seen the movie a bagillion times, because there is no volume to the movie, only to the music.

Here is the song ironically titled "The Great Gig in the Sky" as it would play if the album is started at the beginning of the movie.

If you think that this seems at all interesting, I suggest going back and starting at the first song--most are on there, and numbered accordingly.

    Did it in college...it was definitely cool. Start the cd right after the MGM lion roars for the third time.

    that's pretty cool, there are times in my past that could have been useful, i just may have to rent it, and dub a dvd

    No, actually Im sure its just coincedence, but the movie and the album go together pretty well, even if sober. You gotta be a pink floyd fan though.

    Well, I toked my share and dropped enough tabs, but I am not that much of a PF fan, and I always wonder how it ever occured to anyone to say, "Hey man, lets put on The wizard, man, you know man, like Oz man, like not Gandalf, man, and then, like lets play Dark Side while we groove on the yellow brick road man..." "ffffffffffffft. Wanna hit man?"

    But regardless, the coincidences are just too strange.

    I think the coolest part is when, during the song "Us and Them" they sing the lyrics "black...." (shot of the Wicked Witch)"and blue...."(shot of Dorothy)....

    Freaky stuff, man.....


    I may be wrong, but I believe you can purchase the movie dubbed with the albumn on ebay, search for "Dark Side of OZ".
