Browning semi auto takedown 22
My oldest son(14) made a deal with me last night. He said he would work all summer to pay me back if I would lend him money to buy a rifle. I said sure and we headed to the gunshop. He had $200 of his own money he had saved up and I wondered what he had in mind and how much I would have to loan him.
I stayed back and let him talk to the owner. He was interested in 3 guns. A Browning Buckmark rifle $499, Browning Semi Auto 22 Grade 1 Blued $499, Browning Semi Auto 22 stainless with laminated wood $519.
He picked out the laminated stainless 22 auto for $519. We just went out and shot it, what a great gun. I have always wanted a Browning takedown 22 semi auto and am glad to see he has the same taste in guns.
This was also the first time since 1993 that I have not been delayed on the NICS phone call.[:D]

Its great to see someone passing down interest in shooting sports. Unfortunately my 14 year old step-son does not share my interest in shooting. I have tried to get him interested without being to pushy about it. We have gone out shooting a few times but he could care less. He would rather watch a basketball game than go shooting.[V]
He's a good kid though. Really into sports right now. And he does like to go fishing! Here is a pic of our trip two weeks ago to South Padre Island.

What is up with the spots on the tails of those fish? What kind of fish are they?
I am fortunate one of my sons lives and breathes hunting, trapping, and guns-he is 11 and is waiting for the fur check from the furs he shipped to the Canada fur auction.
The other son is the one who just bought the new gun so maybe there is hope for him yet. If I could just get him off video games all would be good with the world!0 -

They are Red Drum. Most people down there just call them Reds though. They are caught in the shallow waters (1 to 3 feet) of the Laguna Madre and other bays behind Padre Island. If the water is calm you can sometimes see the fish you are casting to. When they are feeding their tails break the surface of the water. You can cast lures to them or fish with live shrimp on the bottom or under a bobber. Very good eating!0
