Your almost making me want to go back shipping.
I have a license to run that monster. The only ship I helped run had 3 Wartsila-Vasa V-12 Twin Turbo's running AC generators. We would then use that power to run the whole ship and transfer some of the AC to DC to power 2 10000HP DC motors that in tandem would run the center shaft. Besides the center shaft we had 2 Aximuth stern thrusters and 2 bow thrusters.
Unfortunately I have had such a poor year lobstering, I may have to return to shipping.

To answer your question. Yes
Have worked on a few of them. I do governors on engines, including these.0
