Is this the way GI's Carry?

Is this still the way the Military carry the Beretta M-9 when not in combat?

Condition One: Firearm chambered, Decocked with a full magazine!

Condition Two: Fully loaded Mag, without the firearm chambered!

Condition Three: No Magazine in Firearm or chamber?

  I was taught the same way, with a couple differences
  
  Condition 2 was not applicable to the M9
  Condition 3 was = to your condition 2
  Condition 4 was = to your condition 3

  It depends on where you are at and the politics in play regarding the regional situation.
  
  I had to carry mine Amber when off the FOB and Green when on the FOB.
  
  What do you mean by "firearm chambered"? I think you mean, "round chambered". You don't "chamber" a firearm. You "chamber" a round.
  
  Condition One = Red
  
  Condition Two = Amber
  
  Condition Three = Green

  When I was in .I used the 1911 and It was ready to rock-n-roll.
  The m16 had a full mag and 1 in the chamber.

  I was in the navy and I didn't get to have any guns, we didn't even have any mounted to the ship. We did have a .50 cal they could put ont the Helo deck and some .45's and M-16's for quarterdeck watches.

  I was active duty US Army as an MP for over 13 years, and wherever I was assigned at no time were we ever allowed to have a round chambered while carrying the 1911, or the M9.
  
  Every officer I ever served under put out this order to cover their butt's then turned a blind eye to what we actually did. I called this the OER factor (Officer's Efficiency Report). What everyone actually did was an unwritten order to lock and load a live round at all times. If you ever popped one off in a clearing barrel you could expect to receive extra duty or a bad-counseling statement.
  
  Another bad idea was requiring everyone to have a lanyard attached to their side arm. Most lanyards prevented the firearm from being extended to full draw.

  Inside the wire condition 4, i.e. bolt closed on an empty chamber, no magazine, safety on.
  Inside the wire doing security condition 3, ie bolt forward on an empty chamber, magazine in, safety on.
  Outside the wire condition 1, round in the chamber, magazine in, safety on.
  BTW everyone had to carry a weapon except chaplains at all times. You could not get into a PX or chow hall without a weapon and magazine. They must have sold a million magazine holders that attached to the gun stock just for that purpose. Most people ditched the issued M9 holsters and bought their own. I always carried a rifle instead of a pistol (I had a choice) figuring if I ever really needed the thing 28 rounds were better than 13. Also it was harder to steal a rifle than a pistol when you were in the shower......Joe
