Who here thinks that, just because the sheeple of this country were fooled into electing a president he should be memorialized on a coin? Many should on their merits, some should not, including Clinton and GWB.

    I hadn't thought of that.

I was just excited that the mint is trying the $1 coins again. They'll catch on, one day. Pennies will go away, too.

I had a long discussion with a friend who wants to get rid of pennies. He did not have an answer for many of the problems this would bring.

For those who support getting rid of the penny-what is your answer to administering sales tax. It would have to be in five cent increments right?
So the sales tax in towns who are at 6% would have to jump to 10%. In SD the sales tax on vehicles is 3%, it would jump to 5%?
Every jump in postage stamps would have to be five cents.

This would be a great revenue maker for government and be a huge cost to consumers.

I have little use or love for $ coins. They are either too large and heavy, or easily confused with other coins. I don't care who is on them.

If it weren't for pennies people from Around here would never tip. No kidding some of the stingiest people I've ever met live near me. Case in point: My wife bought her friend's kids a cheap Christmas present and gave it to them a week before the holiday. The kids father said that since they already got a gift that they would not get anything from him. He is worth millions. But I digress...............I really like the one dollar coins and always have, especially the "Sackaweeja" fake gold ones. Love getting them in change at the post office when I buy stamps. I'd like to see $5.00 and $10.00 coins made also.
