Screw them put the border on the back side of their land and let the illegals run thru to the waiting Border Patrol. If they commit a crime then charge the land owner for helping the illegals. 0 -
apparently the last paragraph tells the entire story. they are not upset that the fence is being built, they are upset that the fence is north of the border, which will still allow illegals on to american/texan land.

I doubt if that is the real reason. I have read numerous other artciles about land owners down there fighting the fence. And most of it is about making money and getting cheap labor.0 -

Here you have politics in play again with the intent of stopping progress. The only thing you might need, IMO, along the Texas border is high tech security measures and stronger enforcement, unless, the Rio Grande River is so shallow at spots that you can drive across it. If you can drive across it, dredge it, fence it, do wahtever the hell it takes to get it done. 0 -

Actually the fence between N and S Korea doesn't work that well at all. People go across it fairly regularly, just like they did with E/W Germany.

Thats what we should do in Texas...minefield, fences, watch towers, MGs manned by proud Americans, etc....if they can get through that, then they get amnesty

I believe we have identified part of the problem; lots of advice from folks who've never even seen the Rio Grande.
The topography in TX is almost flat, except through Big Bend and a coupla other stretches; a fence would work wonders if it doesn't rain, and the mud piles up next to the fence, and the illegals step over.
Since new Mexico lost a lawsuit to TX over water rights, we have to send so much water downstream to TX every year, regardless that we're in the middle of a 6-year drought cycle, regardless that TX has a coastline. You know, the kind where water meets land. Lotsa water.
With all the water drained out of the Rio Grande, the illegals have driven, walked, skateboarded, danced and stumbled into the US. By the Millions.
The latest SOF has an article about how the fence has been circumvented by Nature, illegals and erosion, where there IS fence, anyway.
Apparently nM's little 3-mile stretch of fence is effective enough.0 -
No, We've actually identified the biggest part of the problem.
That kickbacks from smugglers pays much better than ranching.
I say again. Seizure...If Eminent Domain can be used to broaden the tax base of New London, CT, it can damn sure be used to help protect the citizens of the US from the brown horde.

When I was in Korea back in the 60s there was a lot of traffic from North Korea to the South,, Three bus loads a day across Freedom Bridge. My platoon had the security on the bridge and had to check papers of everyone on the busses, No papers they were taken off the bus and turned over to the South Korean athorities..The area we had for the Border had no land mines at the time, One strand of barbed wire seperated us from the North,, Our bunkers were only about 1000 yds from theirs and you litterally rubbed shoulders with them if you were on foot patrol on the DMZ.. We used to give em cigarettes.. 0 -
I don't get it. Wal-Mart can plop a superstore every five miles reguardless of zoning laws and the Federal government, which has built damns and displaced thousands, can't build a fence w/o permission ? 0
