Do you have a Christmas tradition?

Our entire family on my moms side get together Christmas day and spend the day together eating off and on all day and remembering what its all about. My wife and I have a tradition we have carried on for 15 yrs now. She buys a golden tin ornament and has our name and date engraved on them. She decorates the tree and when it comes down to putting those ornaments on we both put them on. Its fun looking back and remembering each yr by the ornaments. I hope God Blesses us to be together long enough where the entire tree is nothing but lights and these ornaments. Do you have a special tradition?

    We also do the golden tins every year. It sure does bring back great memories, esp. of family that has passed on.

    We do the Polish Wigilia observance. Christmas Eve is really our big time to gather with family, and the Christmas day is a sort of relaxed day for the kids to play woth their toys.
    We prepare the home and the dinner table in the proper way as my Mother did. Then we break the oplatek. It is often a very moving ceremony. It'sabout the forgiveness of grievances, and wishing each other to be together next Christmas. Then we move on to the food. 12 dishes, all meatless, it is a feast!!!! Soups, fishes, perogies, grains, fruits, the good stuff... Mike has to add horseradish to the cabbage soup (blasphemy!).
    Then we exchange family presents.

    I have a big family so we break up the celebrations. On Christmas Eve we go to my other parents house. On Christmas morning we have fun with the kids then around 11:00 we will go over to my in-laws place. On the saturday after the 25th we go to my parents house. It is about the family and getting to spend as much time as possable with each family, plus the food is really good at each stop.

    Christmas Tradition is over. Most of the family on both sides is gone. Those that are left we don`t care to see.

    Tradition? I feel like the freakin' fiddler on the roof...

    I traditionally get awakened about 5 am by the inhuman shrieking unique to little girls. After trying to go back to sleep once or twice, my dear wife pinches the hell out of me and makes me go downstairs with my stupid pajamas on. All the while the sirens shriek from the red and green shore.

    In the spirit of the season I don't get any coffee while I sit in my recliner (Nat King Cole now competes with shrieking) and think about all the money I will need to make next year.

    Flash pictures are taken of me and my bed head as I unwrap the "scales of justice" necktie, squint at the flash, and smile and say "Wow! Great tie!"

    Then I clean up the mess, find batteries and fix already broken crap from China while my wife heads out to the after Christmas sales to make sure there were no stragglers left in the bank account.

    I love colored lights...

    My family always get's together for Christmas. It will be at our house this year. I can't wait. And as far as a tradition...we always bake a turkey, just like Thanks Giving.

    My Dad's birthday is Dec. 24th. We get together as a family on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas and his Birthday. He is 77 this year. I imagine someday, this tradition may change when he is not with us anymore.

    Ours is late night church service on x-,as eve... each open one present.... open the rest on x-mas morning... then my dad an I open up his christmas Jameson and sit around the fire.

    FOr 20 years now me and the wife have had a Christmas Eve tradition. We have pizza and Coke. No reason to change.


    I might add that hide the pickle thing in this year.

    We always eat Bannock with our 'Christmas feast' (my family tradition) and, of course, black eyed peas & ham hocks/corn bread for New Year's Day supper (wife's families' Texas tradition) ... both have been practiced for so many generations nobody knows when they were started.
