Bank loan policy - Firearms
Does anyone in the Northeast do business with Citizens Bank or with Charter One in the Midwest? Do you have a credit card through RBS? A mortgage with CCO? All these operations are US subsidiaries of the Royal Bank of Scotland doing business under the general heading of "Citizens Financial Group."
Did you know their official policy is NOT to make loans to ANY business (or organization) which has ANY relationship with firearms? They consider gun shops or your local F&G club to be in the same category as "adult entertainment" and "illegal" enterprises (same list of prohibited loan applicants).
It may be the conservative banker bit, but I more suspect it is the usual PC garbage - Most of "Citizens Financial Group" is headquartered in solidly "blue" Rhode Island and CT - with an international aftertaste.
Want to tell them what you think of their policy?

I'll tell them...by NOT giving them my business. 0 -
On the other hand, I remember reading of a bank out west - Colorado perhaps - that would give you a very fancy weatherby rifle in lieu of interest $ on a 12 or 18 month CD.... 0 -
I searched around a bit on their site and couldn't find that policy. Do you have a link? 0 -

While I do not endorse the bank's policy, it may be just prudent risk management on their part. Given the political climate, they may feel the gun business is a greater risk than they are willing to take. Banks do not like loaning on restaurants either, due to their high failure rate.

Anyone know of a bank that does NOT discriminate against firearms companies ??? 0 -
That's odd, because RBS is one of the Credit Card processors that does accept Firearms transactions. 0 -

I recall that.
Later, they expanded into other firearms.
They would even loan you the money to open the CD, use the CD for collateral, and ship you the firearm.
Don't remember who it was.

This thread is over 2 1/2 years old.
Policy does change, as evidenced below.

Don't remember who it was.
It was the Bank of Boulder.
They have since quit doing it.
I heard North Country Bank and Trust was doing it as well.
Don't know if they are still doing it.
Their policy might have changed too.0 -
First National Bank of Omaha is a pro-second amendment bank. 0
