A friend shipped some reloading dies to a guy that bought them on ebay. The buyer declined insurance for the package.

My friend, the seller, got delivery confirmation that the package was delivered and the date and time the post office delivered.

The buyer claimed he never got the package and called his credit card and reversed the payment. Paypal took the money back out of my friends account and told him since their was no SIGNATURE for the package, they could not be sure the guy did receive them.

If this happened to you, do you still think the buyer deserves positive feedback? That is why I ask the buyer to post first. If they do, you have proof that they are happy and can not reverse the payment. This is what I was talking about above.
    That's BS right there.

CaptFun: I would much rather sell all my stuff on gunbroker, and I see how GB gets more traffic than the other sites, but if you put gunbroker alongside the others in terms of current auctions, this is what you get.

    eBay 13,737,988
    Bidville 1,066,472
    eCrater 683,791
    blujay 205,460
    gunbroker 200,000
    tazbar 149,889
    ePier 140,056
    wagglepop 79,751

I would like to see that number grow, (I'd like to see ebay just disappear) but what are we supposed to do in the meantime?

The problem with using only gunbroker to sell things is its "Gunbroker" not itembroker people come here expecting to buy guns not a piece of french toast shaped like Elvis.

I wouldent mind selling everthing here eather, however its just not practical. Now that ebay is almost totally getting out of gun related sales I will be moving my sales of those items over here, I sold some of it here already like ak parts and large cap mags but up untill they change that I can make more listing the items on ebay than I can here for the most part.

I hope that with ebays new rules that will change and this site will see a lot more traffic because it can only help those of us who do use the auction side of the site. Not to mention those of us who despise ebay may get a chance at some of those ebay only deals.

    Something further.

I just got a note today from one of my ebay buyers asking me to explain why I charged $10 for shipping and handling on a package which cost me only $4.60 to mail and asked me if I wanted to comment before he left feedback. Here is a cut and paste of my response. Now you guys can go ahead and flame me.

Because I was selling the bullets at a price well below cost, I added a handling fee to help cover some of my listing and selling fees plus a trip to the post office. I have to drive 14 miles for a round trip to the post office and I always try to ship the same day I receive payment, so I spend about $3 just in gas to make sure people get their item promptly. I also clearly advertise what my shipping and handling charges are so that there are no surprises to the buyer. If you look on the tracking info, you will find that I shipped the same day that you paid. I'm sorry if my handling fee offends you. I could lower my shipping/handling fee but would have to have a higher initial bid price and then ebay would be making more money off both of us. You see, ebay doesn't include the shipping and handling costs when they calculate the final value fee, but they do charge more if you list at a higher price. The bottom line is that since ebay has such an anti-gun attitude, I try to keep more money in my pocket and less in theirs.

I hope you can understand. I wasn't hiding anything. I do value my positive feedback. You were aware what I charged because it was clearly listed in the auction and in the area where it lists the shipping costs, it does say shipping AND handling. You agreed to purchase it at that cost when you made your bid knowing exactly what the shipping and handling costs were going to be.

In closing, I hope that you can understand and will still leave positive feedback. If you check my current auctions, you will notice that the current aucton for these bullets is up to $36.01 and there is still some time to bid so they could go higher yet. On top of that, the shipping and handling is still $10 so I think you did not do so bad on your auction.

If this still does not make you feel any better, I will take the bullets back and return the full amount that you paid INCLUDING all shipping and handling so all you would have lost is shipping one way as long as you agree to leave positive feedback. I normally don't do this but I do want you to be satisfied.

Our total number of items is up 47% since January and over 75% higher than last year. It is a fine balance between attracting more buyers and more sellers in just the right mix. Too many of one or the other and then both are dissatisfied. And yes Alpine once the upgrade is complete we will be able to add in a spell checker to the auction side. (Forums is a seperate system that we did not write.

#1 mistake people are making with AUCTION SITES....

in auction sites SELLERS CALL THE SHOTS.

in retail, CUSTOMERS CALL THE SHOTS.

somewhere, it all got lost in translation.

when you bid, you do what the seller SAYS!

when you walk into a store, the seller should bend over backwards for you to secure a sale. NOT IN AUCTIONS!

    its that simple folks.

I've bought thousands of items on ebay and could care less if buyer left feedback after receiving my money. I try to leave feedback after receiving my buy and really could care less if seller responds back. Whats important to me is safe wrapping, timely shipping, accurate description, etc. Not wether he feedbacks me or not I leave feedback MAINLY so other buyers can determine the sellers reputation as far as shipping cost and time, description of product, etc. My money to him is only a small part of the sale.---- Have also sold thousands there and most important to me is ARE YOU happy with the sale AFTER you receive it. Just my 2cents.

    Makes sense.

What bothers me is the buyer knew what my terms were when he made his bid. He agreed to that amount and calculated it in his overall cost.

It seems like he wants to hold me hostage to the feedback. I met ALL of my obligations of that transaction. I promptly shipped his product and it was as advertised. He had no complaint about the product. He bought what is normally over $50 in premium bullets for $22.50 plus $10 shipping.

I shipped them as I stated I would, by priority mail and I packaged them to prevent loss. What more could I have done. Don't I deserve positive feedback. This is why I wait until feedback is received before posting feedback.

I wouldent offer him a refund at all, 10 dollars for shipping bullets is nothing. I have bought items as light as a pound that had a 20 dollar shipping charge on them for parcel Post however I only bid what there combined worth was shipping and item worth. I gave a postive where postive was do but gave them a negative on there shipping charges and maybe said something about it in my postive feedback.

In your case your shipping charge sounds reasonable I don't know how heavy the package but to me it sounds fair from what you said.

Personally I sell my items based on combined price shipping and item worth after looking at other similar auctions I will go with a highter price but lower shipping because I know thats a selling point its something you see when your searching.

Often when I buy stuff I will go to the first guy with lowest buy it now that has low shipping/reasonable shipping and then price point his to the guys with cheeper prices usualy he is the cheepest when you combine the 2.

A TON of people jack up shipping and it is annoying, but I wouldent call 10 dollars for bullets high at all.

GUNFUNCO-- You stated your shipping in your auctions, plus you tried to make him happy, and sometimes nothing seems to work. When dealing with people there will always be one jack### that no matter what you do they can't be pleased. One negative here and there isn't going to hurt you. They will build up far more cuz What Goes Around Comes Around. Bad karma will always get you. Don't dwell on the feedback and let him go. You get last word on him so just be straight forward about it. Good luck.
