Gotta Brag on my nephew! Fig8 Racing!

Gotta brag on my nephew Shay. He's a 12 year old kid who was born with cystic fibrosis, heart trouble and is on his second pacemaker. Now he is a Figure 8 dirt track stock car racer. He holds his own very well too against the big boys! Here's a link of him racing and in this heat he takes 1st Place. He is the orange car.

In the stock main class he placed 5th and even had to leave the race for a bit to change a flat tire.

Not bad for a 12 year old.

    That Sir, is something to be proud of. If every kid out there took pride in something like this imagine how much better off they would be. I am glad that given the hand he has been dealt he is willing to put his heart into something and show what he can do. Give him a big high five for me. I whole day just got better. swamp_thing

    For whatever reason, I could not watch the videos...but it sounds like you are rightfully proud of a great kid.[8D]

    I believe this is his second year at stock car racing. He started out with the mini sprint car go cart type racing. He has been driving something or another ever since I can remember. When he was around 7 he was driving a tractor pulling a wagon full of corn up a steep hill on a gravel road. He didn't get the tractor down shifted in time and the tractor stalled on the hill. Next thing you know the wagon full of corn was pulling him back down the hill. Finally after a few scary moments the wagon jack knifed and was pushed over spilling the corn everywhere but stop the tractor from going into the ditch and rolling over on him. Pretty scary and the poor kid still catches some slack about it. He laughs it off now.

    I sent a link of this to my sister, the mother of Shay, and she said, "Very nice, however Shay is 13 and will be getting his fourth pacemaker later this year." MY Bad![8D] He is still an incredible kid!
