...If it's deer hunting she is wanting to do...I think I might start her out with a small cal...wouldn't dump an 06 in her hands to begin with, may turn her off and keep her from learning...[;)]

start her with a .22 then .243 and i started working on a 7mm-08 for when she is ready for it
you should have heard that conversation. son said he would teach her
she said no because she wanted to learn to beat him and he would hold back. i had to laugh at that she is smart[:D][:D]0 -

Sounds like a good plan. I know guys that have used 243 out here in Oregon all their lives and been fine with it for deer. If you learn to shoot correctly it will do the job as will the old 30-30 in the right hands.0 -

I would think about putting a .223 in between the 22 and the .243? That way she moves up to a centerfire rifle caliber, but without the kick of a .243.0 -
