Iver johnson tp22
Anyone ever replace the barrel in an iver johnson tp22. I have one and I've got a replacement barrel for it and I can't seem to get the old one out. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I can't answer your question (except to say that as I recall the barrel is attached to the frame so maybe screwed in with a crush fit) butr I'm curious as to why you need to replaqce the barre? Surely you didn't wear out a pocket .22? 0 -
Nope, I didn't shoot it out. It's the third one I own and when I bought it (I paid 15 bucks for it) the guy before me decided to drill and tap the barrel to thread it. It appears the the barrel pushes out from the front to back. I'm soaking it tonight and I'm going to cool it tomorrow and try and press it out. I have the replacement barrel and that looks like the way it goes out. 0 -
looks to me that mine has a alloy frame holding the steel barrel....a liner diameter of 8mm is to large for the 10.95 diameter barrel to go that route as an alternative to force...not sure about a press fit steel in alloy???? ejector angle on left side (19.57mm gap)is in way of rear removal of barrel unless you remove rivet....interesting problem but they are neat 22 pocket piece...i assume he tried to drill & tap ID of barrel...how deep ??? short distance maybe you could use a muzzle chamfer, forcing cone in reverse, of some type to true up front of rifling basically having a shorter barrel 0 -
The Walther PPKS press out front to rear They may have a cross pin which has to be driven out first. The TPH may have the same atrrangement. 0 -

Thanks everyone for the info. I have the schematic, but I don't see any pin or anything that holds the barrel in. I'm going to let it soak for a while and then give it a shot. It's the third one I own, but it's also one of the origional runs. I was just trying to save it instead of using it for parts. 0
