Subway sucks
Actually, I like Subway. The food doesn't suck, it is just the franchise owner and his employees that suck. They suck big time.
When I order a turkey and cheese sub, the only condiment I want on it is pickles. The truth is that a turkey and cheese sub CANNOT have too many pickles. So, the more the better.
I don't order lettuce. I don't order tomatoes. I don't order peppers, black olives, sour cream, sauces, onions, etc., etc., etc.
The local Subway franchise owner has instructed his clerks (who I can't blame, they're high school kids following orders) to not put on more than one layer of condiments on any sandwich. His theory, I suppose, is that it costs more to do so.
I might even buy that theory if I was ordering a sandwich with multiple condiments on it. But, I'm not. I just want pickles. It doesn't cost this Subway a penny more to flood my sub with pickles.
However, it does cost this Subway more because I won't buy my sandwiches there anymore.
Dumbass franchise owner needs to have a lesson in why dealing in absolutes is almost universally bad for business...

Sure, first you take your nuts and dip them in chocolate, then you spray a candy coating on them and bake them in the oven at 500 degrees for 30 seconds.0 -

Since Quiznos came to town - about 20 miles away - I have not returned to Subway.
If you watch the commercials, you can see how subway is trying to counter-market Quiznos. I think it's funny. If they treated people right to begin with, the stores near Quiznos locations wouldn't be in trouble.
We had a K-Mart here in the town that got arrogant and complacent because for low-end stuff, people would have to drive the 50 or so miles to Salem(OR). Wal-Mart moved in, and no matter how hard K-Mart tried, people just quit shopping there. Within 8 or 9 months, K-Mart was history. The public doesn't forget when they have been poorly treated.
I get a hell of a charge watching arrogant companies get there asses kicked when a new player comes to town. You would think that they never heard of Darwin - one of my favorite people, by the way.

I agree. Quiznois sandwiches are fantastic.[:p][:p]0 -

Oh ya they are much much better.0 -
Try Jersey Mikes if there is one around. You get three times the meat than suckway gives you. 0 -
We have two places here in this little town....Jacks or Subway. In the morning if you go to Jacks you are going to see the same old guys sitting there in the "daily uniform"....overalls. I have even seen them doing gun trades in the parking lot. If you want to go to Subway....there is ONE booth set aside for a "daycare" for the manager's kids. Its funny to live in a one horse town like this...but I like it.
(getting tired of Jacks chicken though)0 -

Subway is okay in a pinch, and always consistent.
Quiznos is better but too expensive for my cheap azz. The wife and I got two subs, chips and tea and it was almost $25.00 It wasn't that good.0 -

Seems like some of you are experts on running a restaurant. How many of you actually have run one? Besides being the six bucks an hour "manager" to control the other teenies? 0 -
My favorite is Sub Station II. Town I grew up in only had Subway, next town over only had Subway, then I went to college and never touched a sub, even though that town had Subways and Sub Station II's. Then I met my wife and we went out to Sub Station II and I will never ever eat a Subway sub again. Sub Station II piles tons of whatever you want on the sandwich, plus, they serve beer. 0 -

I've worked restaurants but never owned them.
I am, however, learning marketing. Saving a nickel on pickles when you won't get five bucks for the sandwich is pretty stupid math, especially considering you're saving at least a dime on the other ingredients.
So, since you've got expertise in running the restaurant, explain to us why dealing in absolutes is good for business. If not but for the customer, you'd not have income.0 -
The airport in Amsterdam has a Burger King. If you want condiments,
you have to pay for each packet over what is alloted for an order.
Can't remember but I think they give you one packet of whatever and
you pay for the rest. Nothing is out where you can get your hands on
it.0 -
So, how are the Cubs doing this year? 0 -

I'm Jewish. This better be a good joke.
And, yeah, I like funny Jew jokes. I don't like unfunny ones, though.
...I think almost all joo jokes are funny, and joo jokes are among my favorite; and I have never taken offense at any reference to joo's, negative or otherwise. Today people wear their thongs way too tight and get offended at almost everything, very sad; people need to get a grip.
...The steroytpe that joo's have padlocks on their wallets is absurd and untrue, I use a combination lock and chain...[8D]

Just noticed a news item on the net home page that a Wendy's manager down in Miami was shot in the arm several times because he refused to give a customer 10 packs of chili sauce instead of the 3 pack limit.
Now there's an unhappy customer......Hope he goes to Sub next time?
