Personally, I can't see why anyone would be opposed to that
    research.

Edited to add: I didn't read the article, but do know that stem
cells can be gotten from other than unborn fetus'.

What is wrong with using stem cells from embryos that are going to be thrown away anyway? That is just being wasteful.

I'm sure the taxpayer pays for far less worthy things. Plus,
how many mores tax dollars are paid for disability and such, that this
    research could prevent?

I'm sure a lot of tax monies go to far lass worthy things. Just imagine what taxpayers might save if several hidious disease
    could be cured.

The problem is that here in Missouri they are talking of recruiting women that are low-income, college students, or just wanna make a few extra bucks, to harvest their eggs, fertilize them then kill them to take the stem cells.

I have no problem with the research itself, its where they get the stem cells that I personally have a problem with. That, and its set up here in Mo, that no matter what it costs, we the taxpayers will have to foot the bill. Even if that means taking money from something else to pay the bill. Thus being an unfunded mandate.

Jeeez, this is what we get from zealous freaks. The cells are gonna die anyway, one way or another. But we just cannot kill unborn children?? We, the greatest nation on earth, are going to let third world countrys get the jump on us in stem cell research if we don;t get our heads out of the sand. This is just like the abortion storm, the zealots are against it, other zealots are for it.

The genie is out of the bottle. Stem cell research will go foreward in this country and the rest of the CIVILIZED world. No, I am not pro abortion, I am pro choice. Tom

I like that. It seems like a nice, succinct way of suggesting a moral and a civil opinion on the subject simultaneously.

How dare we even suggest funding research that could save lives when that money could be better spent ending them overseas!!!!

I watched the Judicial proceedings on the stem cell research and it was all about embryos that were actually dead, Doctors testified that a dead embryo could no longe generate more cells and progress any further than the embryo stage.. The same doctors testified that an embryo is NOT a developed HUMAN when it has already quit generating more cells..

Plenty of stem cells in cord blood. There is no need to harvest human eggs. Im all for it to, I just dont want to see an assembly line $50 a pop egg harvester store and I have a feeling we are on our way. As far as the war goess EMM, thats a different story which is totally unrelated.........
