My Friend died.

MVP
One of my long time friends died Last Monday after a long bought with cancer.
He was a good enough friend that he was in my wedding over 20 years ago and I have not felt the emotions I am feeling about his passing except for a few times in my life.
I Don't know how to express myself or comfort his widow.
I will be in his funeral tomorrow.
These emotions are why I might have posted a few songs earlier.
Just trying to deal with it all.

    i lost a real good friend fathers day 2005 from bone cancer. he was 37. i feel your pain. god bless everybody involved

    Tough one. I've been there. Knew this fine man for most of my life, we met in the military in my younger days. We both retired, me first, and I found jobs for us as Broadcast engineers in SC. I had been there a while and hired him to come and join me, which he did.

    We pretty much ran the place until I retired in 2001,and left him to it. He got Pancreatic cancer in 2003, and died in November. I miss him as I would a brother or sister. There were so many years that we took care of each other. I miss him more than I can even say.

    I know what you are feeling....2 of my friends in 6 months and it is going to take a long time...There are no words to comfort his widow, nor are there words to comfort you, each deals with it in their own way...Take joy in your memories, your good times...remember the laughter and the tears as well....Lock the memories in, they will comfort you ...

    I'm sorry.......God bless him. I've been losing a lot of my life long friends lately too. It's hard to deal with, but you must go on.....My wifes aunt passed away just last Monday.

    Just be there, you don't really have to say anything, because there really isn't much you can say to her that she will find comfort in, and I always find the more I try to say, the more cliche I come off. She will just move through the next few days or so in a fog. Let her dictate the conversation, if any.
    Be yourself, be there.

    Sorry for your loss. Please don't worry about having to say anything to his widow. Just being there to help her out and maybe give her comforting arms will be enough without a word being spoken. God Bless you and your friends family. You'll be in my prayers, and I hope you find comfort from reading what your friends here have to say.

    There is a saying in the Greek community. "At every wedding there are tears and at every funeral there is laughter."
    All we have in life, when everything is said and done, are our memories. You can best honor your friend, comfort the family and ease your pain by remembering all the great times you had together. Don't get me wrong, you are still gonna hurt a long time, we're only human. However, we can't reverse death and bring people back, we can only pray they've been welcomed into Heaven.
