Yeah ... you're right. Am I THAT transparent?
Jeeeeze ... sometimes I feel so alone! LOL
Sometimes I have to eat breakfast with only
one of two cell phones to keep me company
... and under control.

At the end of most hard work days ...
Mrs. Zip (Zippette) is the only one to
keep me company for dinner. Tough
life BUT someone has to do it!
She's the only woman to control me!
Without her ... I'd be completely out
of control!
[:D][8D][:D]

zipper - what/where is the building?
It's one of our large (soon to be) sound stages, at our motion
picture studio, in San Marcos, California. It's about 20 miles
north of San Diego. We're still in the midst of a retrofit on this
one - we're going to raise the roof another three stories.
We're getting it ready for a busy summer production run!
... and, no, it has yet to be officially named.[8D]0 -
By your comments Zip you have always indicated to having a sizable amount of money. With that assumption I have always asked myself one thing. If you aren't tied down by cash restraints, why the hell do you even set foot in California haha? 0 -

Boy, that's a tough one ... no one answer, fer sure. Just a bunch of little things, I
guess.
Probably, because the average temperature around here is about 72?F during the
'hottest months' of the year. Probably, because the weather is mild all year around.
Probably, because there aren't any biting flies or mosquitos where I live. Probably,
because there are mountains just 50 minutes away by car - beautiful deserts an
hour away - the largest ocean in the world 14 minutes away - a foreign country
30 minutes away. Probably, some of the finest hunting you could wish for close by.
Probably, because there are 22 miles of beaches here in San Diego full of beautiful
college co-eds from three enormous universities and about 10 community colleges.
Probably, because we don't have to contend with hurricanes, ice storms, blizzards,
snow, lightening storms, hail, floods, wind storms. Probably, because there are no
tornados or humidity in the summer or water rationing. Probably - and a big one -
because I like ocean/sports fishing/salmon fishing and to boat around in a sea
of water instead of a little puddle down the road in 'Hoedunk.' Probably, because I
still SCUBA dive a few times a year with my sons and there just 'ain't nothin' like
a dive in the kelp beds on a clear sunny day. Probably, because I can water ski on
the ocean, bay(s), lakes, or Colorado River if I want - or snow ski close by. Probably,
because the second largest American city in the country is 120 miles north of here.
Probably, because I can eat any kind of exotic cuisine I want to - and find it just
minutes away. Probably, because the state is the size of Japan or England. Probably,
because the world's biggest zoo (actually two of them) are here. Probably, because
there is a huge Sea World here. Probably, because one of the most beautiful parks
and botanical gardens is just 15 minutes away. Probably, because there is a world
class oceanographic institute here. Probably, along with Sea World, there is a world
class state of the art aquarium here, too. Probably, because Yosemite and the Giant
Redwood forests are here as well as the Yuba and Feather Rivers and all the fun that
goes along with them. Probably, because we have more Indian casinos than any other
county in the country. Probably, because Las Vegas is 40 minutes away by air/an easy
drive by car. .. and lastly, most certainly because you're stuck living in the terrible place
you've settled for and you can't live here... that probably pretty well sums it up. Haha
[:D][:D][:D]
... did mention whale watching, Disneyland or Universal Studios?0 -
That's good, after all you should be happy where you live.
Personally after I moved up to Alaska then back to Oregon agian, I didn't care for the more liberal people there. Then when I moved from Oregon to Texas and went back to Oregon and visit people about drove me nuts. Oregonians used to be alot more "country" until the Californians started flooding Oregon so I figured it would be even worse there.
I suppose I just have alot of dislike for the place myself since when they started flooding up they drove the housing prices up where I can't even afford to live there now even if I wanted to. Plus the gun laws, pollution, over population, and housing costs.0 -
You don't sound very happy.
You want to be happy ... do something about it.
Whiming ain't gonna help one dang bit ... go out
there and get what you want.
I decided early on that I could work in a steel mill
the rest of my life or get what I wanted out of life.
The older you get the more you will find not to your
liking.
Take all those things that I mentioned about California
and leave here for Nevada or Arizona so I can keep an
AK in my closet? ... nah, I don't think so.
Been collecting and shooting since 1960 - have three big
safes full. Only things I can't have is an AK, I have an M4 (with
permit) and a BMG 50 (can own a .49, though).
if you think I'm leaving all of this because of that
... I don't think so. [:D]0 -
geez, do you need a studio that big to shoot porn flicks???[:D][;)] 0 -

I'm ok with where I live. I have more then most especially at my age, I'm content for now. I have not achieved all my goals, but then agian I'm young and life is all about stepping stones. Most of what I'm not happy about is how this country is changing and not staying to it's values, roots, and constitution.
Never mistake me for whining. The only thing I whine about is if one of my guns break, and then I have a perfectly good excuse to whine. [:D]0 -

geez, do you need a studio that big to shoot porn flicks???
Funny you mention that ...
... actually, the porn biz is a $15+ billion cash cow - and growing each year - for many of the 'respectable,' well known studios ... WB, Paramount, Universal, Sony (Lucas), Playboy, Time Warner (AOL - HBO) and many others.
There is X (stuff you see on cable made for TV productions like Rome and made for movie stuff, Double X - a bit more risqu?, Triple X - old smokers brought up to date, and flat out XXXX - the Hardcore Porn DVD market/domestic and export. Red Camera HD in beta at the moment is being driven by/for this market at the present. I've talked to a number of folks directly involved in RC HD and that seems to be the consensus among them.
All the big boys refuse to acknowledge any duplicity in any of it - well, except for the first two - but the big bucks are in the second two. All do it, by purchasing the San Fernando
Valley production companies - secretly- and then only contact them through their mobs of lawyers. There is absolutely no paper/money trails between the major studios and the porn outfits. Learning this part of the business has been a real eye-opener. I'm not part of that save knowing how it is all put together and the players. We're sticking to the legit side as our funding will be 100% in house.
... it's an interesting secret subculture, though.[:D]0 -
Soooo....
I guess you won't be posting any "samples" anytime soon[:D]
Good luck with you endeavor, and remember the "little people" when you win your 1st award[;)]0 -
LOL ... actually we've received some 'samples' ... like I said, it's a big business
and it's pretty amazing how it works. $$$ is doubled or tripled and the
turn around is 60, 120, 180 days - depending on the worth of the distributor(s)
and if foreign markets are involved. Also they make lots of money on the
'best of (subject)' and the best of (favorite 'actresses'/'actors' (recuts) and
rereleases. The same lot of, say, 10 DVDs can make big profits at least 3-4
times with the same video/film. The production costs for those DVDs can
run anywhere from 20K - 250K ... and some studios are making 10+ at the
same time. It rains money for some of those guys - daily/365 days a year!.
... like I said, we are not interested in the hardcore stuff but will be making
some soft HD material for HBO and Cable ... perhaps. Maybe like Mel Gibson,
perhaps not. Time will tell.
There are a couple of reasons that we may not have the time or desire - and
we may just stick to the legit 'R', 'PG' and 'G' material - that's pretty popular
at the moment. Whatever way we go, it's going to be a great ride!
... I like 'little guys' - I'm one, too - always preferred to hang with 'little guys'
when given a choice.[8D]0 -
