The covers that are on top of the plugs hold the plug connectors.
Like plugging in a circuit board.

The new engines today. You are better off taking them to the dealer and have such work done. For if something is not right you stand a chance of messing up a lot of electronics on the engine.

Yes it may cost a good penny to have a dealer do the work. But they know how to do it correctly.

The secondary electric systems on todays cars and truck carry enough voltage and amps to kill a person.

A North Star engine is simple compared to the 8 plug four cylinder Mazda engine used in Ford Ranger pick-up trucks. Some of them you have to remove the intake just to get at the plugs next to the firewall.

Wallie if your friend can afford a Caddy you can afford the dealer to change them out..[:o)][:o)] Just don't use your cannon for any adjustments on the Caddy..[:o)][:o)]

    TELL ME ABOUT IT!!
My wife has a Ranger, i just put plugs in it too.It CAN be done without removing the manifold but you need a 1/4 in. ratchet set and a whole array of extensions and univ. sockets...It was HELL..[}:)]
    Wires were NO PICNIC either!!

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Save your money for when the starter goes out and the intake manifold has to be pulled to get to it. We are talking 3 to 4 hours labor time. [B)] Plus a starter[B)] plus tax[B)][B)][B)] But I must say if you take care of it it shall last a while. I have a few cars and one is a 95' Cadillac STS with the northstar. It has 344,244. Had to go look[:D] It eats a qrt of 15w-40 a week and will leave carbon all over the tailgater behind me in traffic but its a clean car. Can't complain. Had it for about 5 years know.
