It's a Marine thing, and it goes all the way to the top!
The day General Peter Pace retired he placed
three small index cards at t the base of the Wall.
A four star generals rank was pinned to each card.
The cards were personally addressed and said:
These are Yours- not mine!

Marine NCOs do not eat until their men eat. The officers do not eat until the NCOs do. On my way back from Iraq we were jammed into every seat in the back of the plane. The officers and chiefs had an entire row (five seats) to themselves. One reason why I told my nephews to join the Corps instead of the Navy..... 0 -
