H2 Hummer owners
Any H2 owners here? What do you think about them? What kind of mileage are you getting out of it? How does it tow? How many people will one hold?

H2 and H3's are garbage. Plasticized, leather-seated, McDonald-mobiles which lack even passing comparison to the Humvee they came from. Their closest contemporary is probably the Lincoln "Hood-Rich" Navigator.
The H1 was the last Hummer that was worth a damn, the only version true to GM's idea of literally demilling a HMMWV to the minimum extent legal, retaining the combat chassis, frame, and parts.
Of course, the price tag being what it was, their $300k/year California soccer mom demographic hated how "military" and "ugly" it was, and GM quickly rectified their mistake in the H2 and H3 by tearing out most of the military components for greater comfort and drivability and adding leather seats.0 -
I agree with Bullzeye. The H1 and the military Humvee are the only ones worth a crap. I personally would not trade comfort for reliability and power of a H1. 0 -
traci,the h2 is built on a chevy truck platform,chevy running gear and they get terrible gas mileage,h3 is built on the chev colorado platform,under powered and gas mi. sux also,yea they look cool and are big [H2] but are completly over priced,go buy a chevy tr,hd 2500,4 door and have all the room for your toys in the bed,and your buddys too,gas mileage aint great with them either unless you buy the duramax diesel,look around the car lots are full of H2s people just cant afford to put the gas in them at todays prices, just my 2cents,LOKO[8D] 0 -

Company owner's son had a 2006 H1.
Major problems with engine & fuel system twice.
Blown headgaskets, cracked heads, injectors and fuel pump system.
But the twin turbos, and a lead footed driver, that, did not help either.
It spent more time in the shop than on the road.
Sold off with 17,000 miles on it, & took a big hickey.0 -

My wife...over my strong objection... just purchase an H3. I told her I will not drive or maintain that "SUV Wanna Be". I've only ridden in it and so far the only things I like are the ground clearance (I wish I could get that in a Dakota) and the sunroof. 0 -

Jeez man, welcome to my world! Well, what used to be my world. A shortage of mechs makes for some interesting times. 4 hours on the highway at a maximum speed of 38 mph (the engine just sucked), with a broken spedometer, no side mirrors, a severly cracked windshield, and a brake-pressure alarm that shrilled incessantly despite the fact that the pressure was in the yellow the whole time (it never went in the green, even after it got fixed).0 -
I hear that the new h-1's (not sure of release date) are supposed to look more like the origionals, but still with the 2-liter bottle plastic as the h-2's and h-3's.
I think the real military style hummers were built by am general which would be more realible. However I looked at their website and I found the horsepower rating is much less than the one marketed by GM. This makes me wonder why the military would want something like this. Both are diesel, and about the same size engine; so I wonder if this is really what the am general model can do, or if they are not telling on-lookers what it really can do.
It does say The performance indicated does not reflect the capability of the HMMWV, but rather reflects the performance required by the U.S. military.
However it is listed below the max speed/ turning radius section. If they do have a better model than this they sure dont list it there.0 -

Traci, I think you're better off with that huge ass 3500 Diesel Ram you have. They can outpull anything(within reason of course), comfortable, and aren't the peices of crap that the H2's are. 0 -
An H2 is nothing more than a dressed up Suburban. They're built on the same line.
An H3 is nothing more than a dressed up Trailblazer. They're built on the same line.
Really, if you've got nothing better to do than pi$$ away some money so you can have a harsh-angled SUV, then by all means go ahead and pick up either. But, if you want the same basic vehicle at a much more affordable price, pick yourself up a Suburban or Tahoe.0 -
you can paint a TURD,..but underneath it is still a TURD. They are simply a hummer body on a chevy TAHOE frame,..pure and simple. They are also the NUMBER ONE most returned vehicle for problems under warranty in the SUV category.
save the money and buy a tahoe or suburban,..I am on my 4th suburban and love them.0 -
In Scottsdale at one of the larger new car dealerships along new car row (not the famous Motor Mile if you've been out here), there is - as far as the human eye can see - an enormous parking lot jam-packed with USED Hummers of all types, colors, etc. There hast to be at least five hundred if not more. IMO, not a very good advertisement for the vehicle or for its popularity or marketability - at least right now. I think parking it in normal mall and shopping lot spots is rough if not impossible and gas is just too expensive to drive it regularly (every day) and seriously. 0 -
I own a 2005 H2, prefer it to the two H1's I've owned previously (both diesels, both ca-ca). For all its ponderance, the vehicle is very capable off-road. Seats 5, gets 10-12mpg. I have never towed anything. Mostly I take it to cruise for high school girls, go to Safeway or visit RayB in Wenatchee. 0 -

i do autoglass for a living. i have had to repair and replace evry single piece of glass in these, mostly the H2. I can tell ya, it ain't cheap. the winshield alone is over $1000 to replace. the windows and back glass are are $400 a piece, unless they are factory privacy tinted then add another $150 per glass. the Hummer dealership here has us contracted for 5 years to do all their glass. 0 -

I'm going to quit the hauling busy. Most of what I haul is for my dad anyway. I can always use his truck if he whats something moved.
My mom paid my truck off, so I'm in very good shape with a trade and I've been wanting an suv.
My uncle has one it's his 2nd. He loves his. He had a bad rust problem with his first one and the milege isn't great 10 to 14. But If I sell/trade my Dodge and add to that a large down payment. I wouldn't have to finace much maybe 8 to 10 grand, so my payment should be less than 200 a month.
My uncle says I can take his out for a drive and she if its something I want. I may take him up on that.0 -
