Not as much as a 1200 lb. safe will cost. [:)] 0 -
Local pickup, delivery, and emplacement (easy access with 3 foot access doors) of a 1000 lb safe around here was about $240. I believe the same services for a 500 lb safe was around $100-$150. However, your location will probably vary. 0 -
Usually a case of good beer.... 0 -
If your just moving it around the house, a good refridgerator dolly works just fine! If your moving it from one house to another, than hire a flat bed tow truck, and use the fridge dolly once you get it to your house. 0 -
Thats not very big. Get 3 friends and it will be a piece of cake. Tell me what all is involved and I will tell you how to do it. 0 -
thanks gang.
the deal is a very close friend of mine 100 miles away has made the move to ashwitz (nursing home) and the family has asked me to deal with his gun safe. no one in the family knows anything about guns, so i offered my assistance. so, as they prepare to sell the empty home, the safe has to go out. they GAVE IT TO ME for my labor. so, the safe will move into my truck 3 days after the ad goes in the newspaper. once i get a nibble, i will offer it C.O.D. im sure it will be a selling point, so i needed to know how much im giving them a deal by delivering it. I move and install safes for the local shop sometimes since I have moved many boilers over the years. The size, shape and weights are about the same between the two. If the distance is within 25 miles or so and I am dropping it off in the garage I get $100-$150 depending on size. If it is going in the house I have to crawl under it and see if the framing can handle the load, then build a ramp up the steps and lay padding and plywood on the floors from point A-B. A large 100 rifle vault going in a house that needs to be re-framed or a footer poured under the safe can cost $1,000. for delivery and installation. 0 -
500lbs. is a pretty light safe. You and another could do it, especially if you remove the door. A refrigerator dolly will move one that light. 0 -
Last time I needed to move one, it was a safe about that size, and we only had to go from the house to the shop. However, the same method would work from one house to a vehicle to another house.
I had a teen-age son at home still. I told him to go and fetch a few friends. He left and returned with several large boys. They just picked up my safe and set it down where I told them to. For free.
If I had it to do today, I would call my friend the high school principal, and tell him I need four strong boys for a 10 minute job that pays $10 each. I would have them at the end of the school day.0 -
I am moving my 1100 pound safe in a few days. I called several moving companies and they all got cold feet or failed to call me back with a price.
Finally, I called a safe merchant in Ft. Worth who agreed to drive an hour to me, move my safe from storage, move it to my house and mount it to the floor for $350.00.
Seems fair...0
